Day 438 - August 27 - In need of prayer

Just another quick note with an update and a request. In the course of caring for her family and her son with her usual "git 'er done" attitude, Cherié has thrown her back out somehow. That sounds worse than it probably is - maybe I should say "she's tweaked her back" or something. She's managed to pinch a nerve or a disk in some way, and it's very painful for her to stand or move. Knowing her, she's not going to slow down much, but she does have a lot of pain from it.

I'm staying home from work today to take care of the two of them - Connor's got a doctor's appointment and hopefully Cherié will take it easier while I'm here to help. But this really is a matter for prayer. I can't stay home from work indefinitely to care for both of them, but at the rate Cherié pushes herself, I fear she'll do some sort of permanent damage to her back. So I would ask for, and greatly appreciate, your prayers in this regard.

Thank you for continuing to support and help us with your prayers.

E.

I know about "pinched nerves" in your back. It is SOOO painful!!! I will really be praying for Cherie!! I've had two back surgeries now. Hopefully if she rests her back, the pain will go away. She may have just pulled a muscle. We'll pray it will get better soon.

In Him!

Sorry to read this. Caregivers of those who have a SCI is so very challenging. Do you have professional help to step in so you don't need to miss work? I know California has cut funding for caregivers, but a vent dependent individual should qualify for several hours per week of RN/LVN care, right?

Praying for all of you.

Having a hubby who also has a "funky" back I understand the struggle you face. They are work horses, but even the best horse needs a day in the barn. As always ICE, ICE, ICE...and of course rest. This maybe the time to call on those that offered in the beginning to help and you have not asked them yet. Ask and you shall receive.

If you guys can, I would HIGHLY recommend going to a chiropractor. They can help via adjustments, and with advise for Cherie on how to do things.

And yes, ICE ICE ICE!

My back/hip went out, and an ice pack is what got me through.

We'll be praying. Steve Hays

Oh I am sorry Mrs. W! I totally understand about the back, I pulled mine this summer and I did not know how much I took for granted my working muscles until I did not have them! I will be praying hard for you and your family! Please let me know if I can come over and do anything for you. I really mean it, I am just at home today getting ready for school to start on Monday! No plans today, tomorrow is busy but maybe I could help on Sunday if you need it. I would like to pray right now on the screen, not to show off but to let you know what I am praying for...Father please heal Mrs Williamson's back and give her the ability to rest and recover. Please give strength, grace, and patience to Mr. Williamson. I pray that You would continue to watch over Connor, if it is in Your will, please heal him completely! I humbly ask You to show Connor how much You love, care, and watch over him, in Jesus' name AMEN! Keep on keeping on Williamson family, we are praying for you!

Valerie

Our love and prayers are definitely with you--as a nurse who also has back problems, I can empathize! The ice is great but remember to keep moving, too--or you will get very stiff.
