Day 355 - June 6 - Well, that's done...

Last night the wedding went off without a hitch. The weather was perfect, the ceremony was fantastic, the reception went really well (since it was filled up with folks we love) - all in all I'd have another wedding there if I ever had to stage another wedding, which I won't, seeing as how I don't have any more daughters, and it's the bride that coordinates all that stuff, so when Connor gets married somebody else can worry about the location, but if I did have to do it again, I'd do it there. They were wonderful and the evening was a rousing success (except for that bit about having to give my daughter away...).

Connor managed the evening well; we had a bit of a struggle with him getting too cold, but an extra propane heater solved that problem lickety-split. We did stretch the evening long enough that his vent battery started to run dry, and we had to get the vent plugged into the 12V socket in the van for the tail end of the night, but we managed. Here's a couple of photos (the real photography should show up in a couple of weeks) -

Pretty cool, huh?

So the newlyweds took off, and CheriƩ, Connor and I finally managed to get to bed about 0230 this morning. Then it was up three or four times during the night to respond to alarms, and out of bed by 0800 to get the day going. Since it's midnight now, I'm going to bed. I'll try to post more about the week tomorrow...

Good night.

I was at Disneyland one time when my scooter battery started to go low. It was so bad that my friends has to push it while I putted along. I ended up hav to plug it into a light post during the Electric Light Parade. Hey, at least we (Andrea Glass was with me) had perfect seats! .

So happy that the weather was nice for you. I thought about you all that night. I cannot wait to see the other pictures. Joelle made a beautiful bride.

Thanks for the update (and the photos)...we praise God for putting the two newlyweds in the same place at the same time and loving the same Lord & Savior. Congrats to all.

It certainly was a perfect night! Joelle was even more stunning than usual, Alan looked rather dapper, everyone in the wedding party looked amazing and were beaming at watching their friends become one. The ceremony was sweet and the reception was a hoot! *cou-caleb-gh!* I was particularly amused at all the funny faces Joelle was making when she and her hubby were dancing their first dance. PRICELESS!!

Thank you for putting on such an amazing party. Lee and I had a great time (HE EVEN DANCED!...I use the term loosely lol) and it was wonderful to reconnect with some old friends. Oh! and we got to hear Cherie sing a couple songs! Simply a joy. :)

I pray you all are getting some much needed rest now.

Love you,

Jenann

Just want to say I am so glad your daughter's big day went well. Also, to let you know The Williamson Clan is always in our prayers. I haven't posted in quite a long time though I visit the blog regularly.

Yup, so glad we only have 1 girl to plan a wedding for someday. Though, I do hope our 4 boys will marry gals someday that love God and can gut their own fish! Kinda a must with us Derendinger's.

Thanks you for sharing the beautiful pictures with all of us! Can't wait to see more!

Looks like such a beautiful day! Congratulations! It was nice seeing you all Sunday at church. We were talking about the wedding and it reminded me about my oldest daughter, married last June. After we got home that night, I remember my husband voicing how sad he felt. I was just glowing from the event - everything had been so wonderful and we love our son-in-law, so I was filled with joy and could not see why he was so sad.

But, when they came home from the honeymoon, we were going to load up the cars and follow them home to LA with all their gifts. I remember going into "her" room (which now was "their" room) to check to be sure we didn't forget anything and realized that this was it- all her stuff was gone --packed in the car or off to goodwill. The room was empty of everything but the bed. The feeling just stung. But, I went out, put the feeling away and began the trip to LA.

We helped them move in, built some furniture they bought at IKEA, and even fit in a day at Disneyland with them wearing the Disney wedding hats all day. Good times.

But then it was time to say goodbye and drive home. I took the first shift. My younger daughter and husband feel asleep immediately and I cried for 4 hours straight of driving!! I got home and I remember that week as being very difficult - found myself drawn into the empty room many times - knowing that things were now different. And they were and they are and there is nothing for it... but over the year, we have developed our new mom and married daughter relationship. And I found we have even more in common now, being both wives and running households and such mundane things as that. I am enjoying it. But, I had to grieve what was over and that step was necessary. I'm glad I took the time to do that. So strange that you can be sad and happy at the same time - endings and beginnings.

Praying for you all - praying for Connor and complete healing as always. May you have a restful night.
Sandi
