Day 308 - April 18 - Signs and Wonders
This afternoon before dinner, Cherié, Connor and I were gathered in the kitchen putting away the groceries Cherié had just brought back home. I'm sure you've experienced the scene in your home - plastic bags all over the counters and floors, the countertops strewn with cans and bags and piles of fruits and vegetables, with her and I bumping into each other and weaving around each other as we moved from fridge to counter to cupboard trying to put all the stuff away in some semblance of order. Of course there's a lot of banter and comments getting passed back and forth, and Connor is often the family comedian as he watches us work and offers up his social commentary, as it were. Well, today I had stepped out of the room when Cherié called me back in. She wanted me to see something, and when I came back into the kitchen she had me stand where she was standing, facing Connor in his chair. Connor was sitting with his head down, and Cherié said "OK, go ahead" to him - and he moved both his hands! He had been sitting there practicing, and he was able to move both of his hands (rotating his wrists) about a quarter to half an inch - not much by your standards, perhaps, but massively significant to us. You should have seen the grin on his face! What a blessing to see him so lifted up.
I titled this post "Signs and Wonders" on purpose - a very dear friend uses that term when she prays for Connor, and I've adopted it in asking the Lord to grant Connor visible progress in his healing - and He is blessing Connor with them.
I just thought y'all might like to know... 8-)

PRAISE THE LORD AMEN AMEN AMEN
woohoooooooo!!!!! GREAT news!!!
What an answer to our collective prayers!! It's so exciting to see God visibly at work. The Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years, oftentimes questioning where their God was. And God would give them glimpses of Himself to keep them pressing onward and not lose heart: a pillar of fire, a column of smoke, a burning bush, a radiant countenance, manna, etc. He had something so much better for them at the end of the journey, if they'd only press on in faith.
When things don't go according to *our* plans, when things take longer to change or progress than *we* think they should, we lose heart so easily and question, "Where is God?" But He is faithful and gives us little glimpses of Himself, even today: sensations throughout Connor's body, 15 minutes of solo breathing without benefit of a working diaphragm, deliberate movements of the hands, a worldwide network of people praying for Connor, ministering to others and finding ministry. There's no question in my mind that God is healing Connor. There's no question in my mind that God has something so much better for him...for all of us...at the end of this journey.
I will continue to pray in faith for Connor's total physical restoration.
Love you all.
And to echo Arnold: PRAISE THE LORD!!!
OH YEH GOD!!!!!!! We BELIEVE!!!!! I know that God wants us to celebrate.. ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE...WE BELIEVE!!!!

What awesome news to hear before I leave for church! That is great!
Not only did we see his hands gripping, fingers pulling slowly, we also saw the new thing which Connor and I had been seeing for a week or so... His shoulder on the right side moving and pulling the whole arm! I told Connor I had been seeing his shoulder move, yet he said he wasn't thinking about it. It was happening when he would be trying to get comfortable in his bed. This is exactly how the left hand's thumb movement started; first a few fingers, then the whole hand beginning to grip, followed by the right hand begining to follow suit, starting with the pinky, and now the thumb and whole hand. He is controlling movement in each hand and wrist.... He still cannot use his hands, but they are beginning to get messages that are being sent to MOVE! And again... a few nights ago... the big toe moved when I told him to concentrate and move it! These are not spasms they are purposeful movement!!! And so we run the race.....
In Him we live and move and have our being!

God is Faithful!!
Praise God, He is good! And Connor is awesome! What a great time to remember, so now later when you might be grumbling to put away the groceries, you can say, "wait, remember what happened last time?" God shows up in the least likely places, but that makes it so much more awesome!
As always,
Michawn
He is faithful, and I am so grateful to hear what is happening with Connor! It is amazing news. Sometimes it seems so long for us who are waiting for concrete answers to prayer, but of course He is doing so much more than we imagine in us during the process... Praise Him!
Yes, Cherié...God IS so faithful. We will continue to pray for "signs and wonders." Praise God!!
Wow--what wonderful news! I am so blessed by reading not only your note to us but also the comments by others. They all certainly echo what I am feeling. Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow! We know that He takes care of every sparrow so He certainly knows each little movement and the progress that He has in store for Connor.
I remember months ago, reading a blog post here from a man who said he was in the same condition as Connor, and it was almost two years before he got all function back. It happened a little at a time, as his body healed. He said not to give up hope and prayer and work hard! That really resonated with me. Now, not that I am being discouraging that it might take years, but I am PRAISING GOD that restoration is possible and is probable and is continuing for you, Connor! Bless you, Connor, we will continue to pray for your healing and health and progress and spirit. Keep working on it!

Wonderful news! Is there an opportunity for additional rehab to maximize this return?

You know, they may seem like "little things," but in reality, they are HUGE glimpses of answered prayer and I think that God reveals Himself even more in the little things. Thank you Lord and please continue to bless and keep the Williamson family in your perfect peace.
With love in Christ,

A snowball at the top of a hill looks rather small...until it starts rolling downhill. I hope all these changes are the start of the "nerve repair snowball" starting its way downhill! Great news guys. I'm sure I heard your "whoo hoo" at my house that afternoon! Thinking of you always. Lisa S.
Simply, but emphatically...WOW!!!
