Day 142 - November 3 - Blessings...
Remember yesterday I said that Connor wasn't moving his fingers "as much"? Well, that was an understatement - he really wasn't moving them at all. It was too easy to shade the truth and understate the issue, and hide my disappointment with a "oh, it's not really as bad as it seems". I'll try not to do it again.
As you know, I've been praying regularly for Connor's complete restoration, and yesterday was no exception. All afternoon, after I realized that Connor wasn't moving his fingers, I've been praying specifically for the movement of his arms and his diaphragm, and I continued that effort this morning while I was at work. This afternoon, as I was on my way home, I got a call from JoƩlle to tell me that - get this - not only was the boy moving his left fingers again, but also his right fingers!!! And the left finger movements are much bigger and decisive than the other day!
Needless to say, we are excited about this progress. I got home, and although he was tired Connor gave it the ol' college try (does that make me "the gipper"?). He moved his fingers for me, and I watched as the tendons in his right wrist tightened to try to move his entire hand!
For those who may not know your spinal geography, it's time for a brief lesson. In your neck you have what are called the cervical vertebrae. They are numbered C1 through C7, with the lower number being higher. Connor's injury was a dislocation of C4 and C5. Now, there are nerve bundles which pass between each vertebra, and each vertebral passage corresponds with a level of motion and feeling. The higher the vertebra, the higher the function. So C1 nerves control things like the nerves in your face, while C3 passes the central body functions like your diaphragm etc. C4 moves your shoulders and neck. When you injure your neck, you may lose feeling and/or motion below your level of injury, so according to medicine Connor should have the use of his shoulders and should be able to breathe on his own. He can do neither, to the degree that the professionals have labeled him a C1 injury (because that's what it acts like).
OK, if I haven't bored you to death, they tell us that if Connor gets any recovery at all, we can expect return back to (usually) one level below his injury. That would be C6 for Connor, which controls the lower arms.
Why am I telling you this? Well, guess where the nerves that control your hands and fingers are - C7. It's quite clear that God is moving - and I remain confident that God will provide and my son will walk again - in this life, on this earth.
I can't wait to see it!

Wow! Awesome!! God is working and moving (in more ways than one!)...there is so much He is going to do and will continue to do. We love you all and will keep praying.

Just a note to let you know we are praying for Connor everynight for full restoration of his body. Connor is part of our nightime prayers with the boys. If I forget, Mason and Malcolm always add Connor in! It is amazing how faithful a 9 & 10 year old boys can be. The Lord will heal Connor. He is a healer!

Praising God for His mighty works! I am believing in Connors complete restoration also. It occurred to me that Connor has moved more than just his fingers. He has moved hundreds and thousands of people to their knees!

That's awesome! God is making it totally clear that HE is the one doing the work. From the vertebrae moving back into place AFTER they removed the traction, to the blood clot and artery blockage disappearing when it showed up in a scan, to Connor regaining movement after the hospital finished doing all they could do to help him...and many other events inbetween...God is leaving no room for ANY other explanation other than that HE is working!
We are so excited for each and every victory no mater how large or small and this is huge!! Praise God who is so much more than we can imagine. Blessings, Jann and Bill
Thank you, Laura. That passage was exactly what I needed to hear this morning before I went to work. It was a hard night last night, as we are struggling again to keep Connor's O2 saturation up. It doesn't want to stay up in the high 90s, and he winds up feeling ill and like he's passing out. On top of that, I accidentally left the valve open and drained our last oxygen bottle empty. Please be praying that the boy's levels will be sustained.

Someday, when you write the book about this time in the Williamson family's life, please include the honesty, the downs, the despair and fear, as well as the hope, because the darkness is the perfect backdrop for the light of Christ.

Thank you for always being honest with all of us. It really helps us to know how to pray. YES, we are still praying along with you for FULL recovery. As another has said....Connor and the story you have to tell has moved many to tears, and their knees. God is good in His perfect time. He knows what and when to do His wonders.
Connor, many of us are still cheering you on and know this is hard, but what an amazing witness you have had to many. Know even as this is a (very) hard time you are doing good in the world! God is telling an amazing story to all of us through you. Even without a word you have spoken to us, and made us all better people. May God richly bless you and know that even when we do not see the good, God knows the outcome and knows that you are the man for Him.

I actually had a dream last night nad saw Connor in my dream walking. He looked beautiful and every step he took decleared the power and beauty of our God. His walking didn't look perfect in my dream but he was walking on his own and I am thankful for the deam and continue to pray,. Not sure why a drema as this but it encourages me to kneel before the throne of God and pray. I don't know his personal but I know Brad Connor's uncle since we go to the same chucrh in Michigan. We are thanking God for every step..One forward..2 back...3 forward...2 back...This walk your on is unbearable to imagine...The loss..the grief... the burden's..the wondering...so much..a very very lonely walk..God ..I know...TRUST YOU BIG..This is a huge test that not alot walk on and He must trust you..
I was reading yesterday the story when Jesus resurrected and appeared to several people..But Thomas..he wasn't buying it!!!.. he let his friends..his buddies know that..Nope..I don't believe that you "saw Him".. and I won't believe till He (Himself-Jesus)..will show me his hands..the scars..all of it..
So Jesus..who amazes me in the next series of events..walks through the wall of where his buddies are sitting and talking and goes up to Thomas to show him..Hey..here I am and see..my hands..See..Thomas..I did what i said i would.." Wow..Thomas is amazed..in awe..overwhelmed..I'm sure a bit humbled and embarrassed by his lack of "faith"..(i totally can relate to Thomas by the way)..
But then Jesus who loves us..so much says this.."Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."...
WOW..THOUGHT OF YOU AND YOUR FAMILY..i thought God.. here is a family who are believing you for a complete and full recovery..A total healing.. They don't see him walking yet..God..but they believe that you will Heal Connor and He will walk ..because they know that their God is able..He is able!!!
I am encouraged to keep believing!!!Nothing is impossible to those who believe!!!
We need to see a miracle and God is able to perform..OH GOD..BE BIG..Amen...

Great news!! I wanted to remind you that there may be days where you are not seeing movement. This is because you have fatigued the muscles. It is okay! Just keep trying and doing what you think you are doing. Don't forget the encouragement that Stephanie had given you too! We are rallying with you. I still think you are gonna beat me to the finish line. hehe
Great news also on the voyage out! You are becoming aware of how inaccessible life is. Take this experience and make life better for you and others. I keep teasing about running for City Council.
"Amen" to all that has been said--it truly does feel like two steps forward and one step backward but we know, that through things, it is God who is in control and Christ who strengthens us! I continue to pray everyday for not only Connor but your entire family and that God will build you up & give you all that you need--both mentally, physically & spiritually. It's a hard trek and praise God that many are beside you in what sometimes seems an uphill climb!

I don't get to comment as often these days, but know that all the Starkes pray every night for Connor's healing, and every day that you would see a sign of this. Sarah especially prays that he will be able to return to the worship team - she really wants to play guitar with him.
On a night when some of us are wondering at God's fierce providence, it's good to remember how faithful and good God is to cause us to trust completely in Him.
We are very excited about Connor being able to move his fingers even if it is a fraction. It's a start. God is working. Please start to massage his hands, fingers, arms and legs. Always massage up. You need to get the blood flowing and maybe it will help him with his movements. I also hope that you can start to exercise his arms and legs even when he is in bed. Ask the physical therapest what kind of exercise you can do for him to help his muscles. Even if they say it won't help. Just exercise him anyway. Can't hurt. We are all praying for Conner.

Life has gotten busy for ya'll and exciting! Thanks for the updates as I know it must be more difficult to post everyday as before.
We are treading water with busy schedules as well and have not been commenting as often...but know that we continue to pray for each of you. And expecially Connor.

Before we know it, Connor will be playing music again. Then walking. Then running. It's only a matter of time. After all, as you know, God already has answered your prayer. You need only wait until His time when he reveals that to you.

Hi Williamsons, Barb here. Not that I have any knowledge in the medical field I do not, but have you thought about taking Conner to a Chiropractor. The reason why I mention this is beacuse I went to Dr Mike Lacerda out in Morgan Hill for 4 years. He took xrays of my spine and he really got me in good shape. My spine is so much straighter then when I first started with him. He explains everything to the person that needs the treatments. Anyway, all this to say, could it maybe help?
