Day 138 - October 30 - Encouraging signs

After I posted last night, some things happened that were encouraging, and signs of God's continued faithfulness to us. First, CheriƩ was rubbing Connor's back and he said "I can tell you're going in circles", which she was, about three inches below his shoulder blades. Pretty cool, huh?

Then, later on, we were moving the boy upward in his bed and his eyes suddenly popped open. SInce that's a pretty good sign that something happened, I asked him what was wrong, and if we had hurt him. He said "No, I just felt like electricity went down and back up my spine". I asked him how far, and he said it went all the way down and then back up.

Finally, as he lay in bed a bit later, he suddenly asked us "is one of my hands uncovered?" I looked, and sure enough, his left hand was out from under the blanket. I said "Yes, why?" and he answered "I can feel the difference - one's hot and one's cold"! I asked him which hand was cold, and he correctly identified the left one.

We were encouraged by these things, as they are signs that there are signals getting past his injury and his nervous system is trying to figure it out. Please, please, please continue to lift him up.

Today we managed to get through the day without major crises, and Connor's lungs seemed to be better. Many of you have expressed concern about the construction - we raised that concern early on with the guys doing the work, and they arranged the schedule so we don't need to break down any walls until the thing is almost complete. As it stands now, there's not really any connection between the house and the addition, at least not until we get a bit further on. When we do have to break down walls, the guys are going to seal the workspace from the house. Theyr'e going way out of their way to help keep the boy healthy, for which I thank them.

Finally, Connor has been tentatively approved for Supplemental Security Income through the Social Security Administration, which means he will qualify for Medi-Cal. There's still a bunch of paperwork hoops to jump through, but the ball is finally rolling in the direction of being able to get some nursing help here at the house. I'm praying that by the time the paperwork goes through, Connor won't need it anymore!

So, all in all a manageable day. Praise the Lord, I'm going to bed. See ya tomorrow...

What an answer to prayer! For one thing, I was "really" praying for Connor's lungs to clear, and now they seem clear. Wow! And I have been praying FERVENTLY for Connor's body to "wake up" "completely" and that the Lord would do a miraculous work on Connor!!! And now to hear of 3 different area's in Connor's body that he can "feel!" And up and down his spine, is a HUGE thing!!! All I can say is, the Lord CAN answer prayers, and that's why we all need to pray, pray, and pray some more!!! That's how Christ told us all to pray!!

Awesome stuff going on here, and I for one am thrilled to hear all this!

Won't quit praying my heart out!!

Love you all!

Continuing to lift you all up in prayer, especially that God would continue to be glorified through all that is happening. We rejoice in the promising signs that you are seeing and continue to pray for Connor's recovery.

Thank you LORD. In Your own time, LORD, complete Connor's healing.
These 'moments' give us faith that Your work is on-going, always.
Step by step - inch by inch.
Thank you, thank you sweet JESUS.
GOD bless and good night.

Connor and family,
I fumble w/ my words, what to say, quote God's awesome word, talk about His faithfulness or simple tell a joke....I am sure you are reminded moment by moment of His faithfulness and are leaning hard on his written word, so I'll go for the later of the tree in hopes to bring cheer into you day.
A man enters his local bar holding a frog and an iguana. He sets them down on the bar and says to the bartender, "I bet you $1000 that my frog here can sing any song you can think of." "Ok," says the bartender. "How 'bout 'Blue Moon'?" The man whispers something to the frog, and the frog starts singing blue moon. "That's amazing," says the bartender as he slaps down $1000. "I'll bet ya another $1000 that my iguana here can do that too." "Ok, I can believe a frog, but not an iguana. You're on. Have him sing the Star Spangled Banner." The man whispers something to the iguana and it sings the Star Spangled Banner. As the bartender hands over another $1000, a businessman comes up and says, "I just saw that and I was amazed. I want to buy your iguana for $100,000." The man said ok, and he exchanged the iguana for the money and the businessman left. The bartender said "What are you nuts?! You could have made millions with that iguana!" The man said "Oh, the iguana can't sing. The frog's a ventriloquist."
With Love, prayers and bring cheer ( I hope;

I praise God for these encouraging signs...how great is His love, His compassion and His mercy. And I pray that these things will lift your spirits, strengthen your hearts, and cause you to continue to marvel at our God--whose ways are far above our own and who holds us in the palm of His hand.

I can't come up with words right now, just complete awe...thank you so much for sharing.

By the way, a portable HEPA room filter may help keep construction dust more manageable as the time comes near...makes less need for regular dusting too! ; }

Exciting news as we all "wait on the
Lord" I love it that the word, wait,
means with "expectancy"

To God be the Praise and Glory.

Awesome post.

Great news! The Silvas are rejoicing! We continue to pray for Connor and your family. I was reading the latest blog to our boys (ages 11 and 8 who have also been praying) and they were shreaking with excitement and joy as I worked through the wonderful news of sensations and feelings Connor is having. With big smilies on their faces, they started singing/chanting "Connor's getting better, Connor's getting better..."
May God continue to provide for every need and give strength and healing.

Eric,
How marvelous our God is!! And it sounds like God is letting Connor's body wake up slowly but surely, a little bit at a time. This is a very good sign and a real answer to prayer. We will continue to pray for complete restoration!

Thank you for all the recent pictures. Van looks good and Connor's new room will be great.

In His Love,
