Day 113 - October 6 - Remember the Roller Coaster?
Good news, bad news, ups, downs, sideways, stops, starts, and even a few back-ups - welcome to our world!
OK, I'm probably over-dramatizing, but still, it amazes me how many changes can happen in a few hours and everything still be the same at the end of it all.
For example, today the medicos advised us that Connor has pseudamonas (again). We're fortunate at this time in that they aren't putting us back in isolation (yet), but are rather continuing the massive anti-biotics doses the boy is already getting.
Later, Connor was at a peer group meeting when he complained to his mom and OT that his right wrist and hand were hurting badly. When they checked his hand, they found a spot that was getting too much pressure and looked like it was pinched and sore. It was right where he told them his hand was hurting.
He also has apparently found a more comfortable way of speaking, by just deflating his trach cuff instead of using the Passy Muir valve. Since he's more comfortable that way, he will do it more often. That's good, as it's one of the things he needs to be able to do before they'll let him come home.
Please continue to pray - for health, for healing, for strength for each day. Pray for wisdom and enough hours in the days to do what's necessary. Pray that we get more rest than the hours of sleep we get, too! It's 1215, and I've got to get up in six hours. Woohoo - sleeping in!!! 8-)
Goodnight, y'all. God bless you.
Eric

LORD, please see that all the needs of Connor and his devoted family are met. Spiritually, mentally, physically, and all in between.
We know you have a purpose and it is not necessary for us to know what it is. Help everyone joyfully surrender to your WILL and have PEACE that only YOU can provide.
Let there be enough rest, hours in their day to acomplish the needed tasks, and work all things out for Connor's homecoming.
GOD bless and good night (morning)
~Shayne, Hollister
I prayed for you all around 3:00 in the morning. Apparently, God decided to "wake me up" and I could not go back to sleep for a couple hours! I was getting frustrated, thinking, "Go to sleep! You're going to be grumpy tomorrow!"
Then, I stopped fighting and decided to pray. I guess it worked, because I soon fell asleep! :)
I am feeling the effects of the lack of sleep this morning, and I promise, I will try not to take it out on my students! Haha!
I hope you have a great day! All of you!
...and I woke up at 4am and found myself praying for Connor! (Eric, can you tell that he's on our minds all the time?!) May God infuse you with encouraging expectation as you wait in wonder at His amazing grace.
Praying for strength, wisdom, healing, and peace for you all. Hope you all feel the love, prayers, and caring that I see generated from this site.
Heavenly Father, thank you for the Williamson family and for their testimony of faith and trust in you. May their day be filled with your grace and protection for each one of them. May Connor be 100% restored both in body and spirit. I stand alongside all of my brothers and sisters in Christ who are lifting up this family to you Lord, that you will be with them throughout their day and give them the peace and confidence that they need as they face each new trial. Amen.
This is one of my devotions for this morning and I wanted to bless you all with it as I was very blessed. We are continuing to pray for Connor and family, Have a blessed day and also you mentioned in your blog "it amazes me how many changes can happen in a few hours and everything still be the same at the end of it all".I guess that's where ,

Is Jesus Enough?
Lysa TerKeurst
"That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day." 2 Timothy 1:12 (NIV)
Devotion:
I stopped in my tracks the other day as I was mindlessly singing a beautiful praise song. I say mindlessly not because I wasn't focusing on God. I was definitely lifting up my heart to Him. But the mindlessly part came when I realized I had no clue of the weight of the words in this song. Did I really mean what I was singing? The song said this to Jesus: "You're all I want. You're all I ever needed."
Really? Did I really mean those words? Is my Jesus enough? Ultimately the question should be: Is my relationship with Jesus in such a place that if He was truly all I had today, would I still stand and sing those powerful song lyrics?
The economy is shaky, funds are tight, prices at the gas pumps and grocery store keep rising. Am I going to let my heart be drawn into a place of worry and fear over all this instability? Or will I quiet my soul and calmly proclaim, "Jesus is my Provider and He is enough."
Today my son Jackson, who just got his driver's license, will be driving to a friend's house to watch the football game. His friend lives less than five miles from our house. But statistics show that most car accidents happen on the roads we are most familiar with, those closest to our homes. Will I be able to smile, tell him to be careful and let him drive down our driveway with full confidence that no matter what, Jesus is enough?
I don't know what kinds of twists and turns might come during my life journey. But, I know the only way to travel with a joyful peace is to settle in my heart the answer to this question once and for all. So, today, I declare Jesus is enough. Before I even know in what way this declaration will be tested, I've made the decision to say it, believe it and settle it.
Jesus is enough.
I think this is why Proverbs 31 is my favorite portrait of a godly woman. Proverbs 31:25 reminds us, "she can laugh at the days to come."
She was filled with such incredible joy not because life was perfect but simply because she had decided to make laughter, peace, and truth the hallmarks of her life. Proverbs 31:30 goes on to say this was a woman to be praised because she so reverenced God in the shrine of her heart. She knew without a doubt, He was - and still is - enough.
Dear Lord, Thank You that in this world we don't have to live consumed with fear of the unknown. For You know all things. Nothing will happen to us that does not first pass through Your hands. May I find peace in Your love, which is so consuming for us that You only have our best interests in mind. Help us to believe and trust in that truth no matter what. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Application Steps:
The next time you start to fret over the "what if" questions, verbalize that Jesus is enough no matter what. Write down the power verses below and keep them in your purse until you've memorized them. Being able to have access to God's truth will guard your heart and your mind.
Reflections:
Have you ever thought about whether or not Jesus is enough in your life?
What are some ways to put this devotional thought into practice in your life today?
How would your relationships improve if you had this kind of peace?
Power Verses:
Psalm 23:4, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me..." (NIV)
Isaiah 54:10, "Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you." (NIV)
2 Timothy 1:12, "That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day." (NIV)

Linda, Great devotional. It really makes a person stop and think. I remember, I think it was Chuck Swindoll, telling his congregation when they got done singing that probably most of them just sang a bunch of lies. We've all heard the saying, "Because of the cross if Jesus doesn't do one more thing for us or give us one more thing it would be enough." That is really tough, because while we know that the cross is far more than we deserve for some reason we often think if He really loves us then He owes us more. If only we could get our heads and our hearts to agree.
Eric,
I doubt that your roller coaster description is a stretch at all. I'm sure that you feel like you're being turned every which way. One moment high with hope and then struggling with fear. If only you could get a few nights of 8 hour, uninterrupted sleep. Sleep can make such a difference. I'll be praying that you all get some much deserved rest.
Connor, you are in my thoughts and prayers always. Give your mommy a big kiss for me. Hope to see you all soon. Remember to always, BELIEVE AND INVISION!!
LOVE YOU...SARA
All this reminds me of a beautiful child of God named Rachel Joy Scott. She was a willing and obedient servant who loved her God more than anything. While her life was cut short and taken abruptly, it is certain that she touched millions of lives bringing flocks of children home to our merciful and loving Father. While I don't understand what is happening, I can only believe God is doing amazing work through His steadfast and faithful son, Connor.
I continue to lift Connor and all Williamson's in prayer. God Bless You All for the encouragement you are to me each and every day.
I haven't touched bases w/ you guys for several days b/c I have been sleeping @ night and, also, b/c I am concerned about falling when noone is awake. One fractured wrist is enough--altho' nothing compared to all Connor has endured w/ God, a wonderful family and friends to uphold him. Hope infectiom resolves soon! Cheryl
