Day 95 - September 18 - Approved

We got the news today that our insurance company has approved the diaphragmatic pacer surgery, which comes as a bit of a surprise. I really thought they would have put up more of a fight. Now I have to try to figure out if it's a good thing or a bad thing!

The surgery is still scheduled for October 1, and everybody here is very excited about it. Personally, I really, really want Connor to breathe on his own without assistance. I pray to that effect constantly, and that God would confound the wise by causing the boy to begin breathing unassisted in the face of what the doctors think should happen. I would LOVE to have to call off the surgery because it's no longer necessary! So I think that October 1 means that I have 12 more days to pray that God would demonstrate His power by restoring Connor's breathing to him before the surgery.

Connor rested a lot today, even though he slept pretty well last night. Every time I checked on him through the night, he was asleep (except for the times the nurses woke him and the time I ran into the bed by accident). (Oops!).

I spent the afternoon with three contractors and an architect, wrestling with what our house should look like to bring the boy home. We hammered out some initial ideas, but we'll need to get the OT folks involved before we go much further.

Tomorrow, 9/19/08, is "O". Connor and I, after a bit of deliberation, settled on "Omnipotent", which of course means "All Powerful". Lord, we ask you to demonstrate it in us and in the boy.

GOD is the One and Only!

We will storm heaven asking GOD to breathe healing life into Connor's lungs so he may breathe on his own, by the grace of GOD.

GOD keep you all in the palm of HIS hand.

Omniscience - perfect knowledge; all knowing

Psalm 139 is one of my favorites when I my mind and heart is full of whys and what ifs . . .
1 O LORD, you have searched me
and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.

3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.

4 Before a word is on my tongue
you know it completely, O LORD.

5 You hem me in—behind and before;
you have laid your hand upon me.

6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?

8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,

10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.

11 If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,"

12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!

18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand.
When I awake,
I am still with you.

We are praying for you and your October 1 situation. Blessings, Jann

He is Omnipresent, always with us!

Praise God for that!

I am praying too that God will allow Connor to breathe on his own. Remember, God did not provide "the Lamb" until Abraham had the knife in his hand ready to sacrifice Isaac. We still had twelve days! :)

Wow, I'm only the fourth one on and all three of my words were already taken. I was going for the omni words, but instead I will add:
He is the Omega.

Revelation 1:8 "I am the Alph and Omega," says the Lord, "Who is and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."

I am amazed to see how the Holy Spirit is guiding His people. Over and over again I find comfort or direction in a certain Scripture, something that speaks to me about my own life right now and to Connor's situation as well. Then I go to the blog, and the very Scriptures that I have been dwelling on appear right there in the comments or in Eric's posts. For the last couple of days I have been camping out in Psalm 139 and there it is, right at the beginning of the comments. This is not just coincidence, nor the fact that certain circumstances naturally suggest certain verses, this is the Holy Spirit working in our hearts and lives.
Just wanted to share that with you, because I stand in awe of our God.
Maybe that's my "O" word- our God. We can call Him ours because He moves in our very hearts.
love you,
Michele

Praying that Connor is breathing on his own, that no surgery will be necessary, Go Connor, Go God
Amen!

Hi family..
You are always in our thoughts...We think about you constantly...Think of how "overwhelmed" you are with so much..too much...Cannot fathom what you go through each and everyday..Seems like life keeps happening and your's was hit with the "pause" button. Have to believe that their is purpose in all of this.. May God OVERWHELM you with His power..his presence and may He provide all your needs, desires..We will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living..We will see it...
i love you

God is Opulent

opulent (adj.) Possessing or exhibiting great wealth; affluent.
opulent (adj.) Characterized by rich abundance; luxuriant

Romans 9:23 What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory— 24 even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?

I'm going with Obvious - as in praying for God's power and attention to Connor to be Obvious to EVERYONE around, especially those who don't yet believe - and of course I would think a great way for that to come about would be for Connor to 'suddenly and unexpectedly' not need the surgery.

For the letter "O" you could say He is our Oxygen....He breathed life into Adam and each day He is the one that gives us life, our ever present life breather! He also was the perfect example to Obedience to His fathers wishes when He died for us. He can Outshine any Dr. with His healing, and blessing He can pour upon us with OK's from insurance companies!

Just a few to brighten your day....We will continue to pray for all of you, and know you are loved!

God is ALWAYS ONTIME. Though I posted opulent earlier as I was praying today about the need for breath before October 1. I was thinking about the scapel in hand and the post from Chelle

God did not provide "the Lamb" until Abraham had the knife in his hand ready to sacrifice Isaac.

God reminded me that he answers our prayers ONTIME. I guess that is what you would call an epiphany.

God OWNS us, and we are His OWN.

(I'm back to sheep again! :))
John 10
3b He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.

11 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep.

28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.

How precious that we belong to the Father, and no one can snatch us from His hand!

Wow--there's nothing that I have thought of that hasn't been used but the one about God always being ON TIME really struck me. We think we have everything figured out, what we want and when we want it. The doctors wanting to schedule surgery for Oct. 1 is but one example; we pray that God performs another miracle in Connor's life and allows him to breath on his own without the pacemaker but we know God is really the one who controls this, too. Praise God for his Power!

One God

three distinctions:

Father, Spirit, Son

One way.
One truth.
One life.

Jn.14:5-7 "Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going,how do we know the way?"
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth,and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.
"If you had known Me,you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him and have seen Him."

Congratulations on your new room Connor! Steady on friend.

Grace and Peace Williamsons.

My name is D.J. Winkler. I’m Jonell Spedale’s grandson. I am 32 years old and have Cerebral Palsy. I can’t talk so I use a special computer to speak with. The speaking computer connects to a regular PC. I can access the Internet, send emails, communicate with friends and buy things off the net. (UPS knows me well.) I have times when I can’t deal with things so I ask God and friends for help. In a couple of days, it gets better. That’s how I get through difficult times.

My hobbies are going to concerts, watching TV, going to movies and playing games on my PC. I have a job at a Christian Preschool close to where I live. I do data entry, typing for the teachers and Director and help remind them of things. I seem to have the best memory of all of them. (Now that is scary.) I really enjoy working there and love the little kids when they come by the office.

I have another device to speak with but it doesn’t work well with my type of movement. It’s called a DynaVox. I had to wear a small dot on my forehead, which worked off a tracker. The computer has an online keyboard. As I move my head the dot is tracked.

I heard of another device that tracks the eye movement. I emailed the company and they gave me the lady that works with them. The lady came out to my house and showed it to me. The Tobii P10 worked wonderful with me. I think we are going to get it.

If you have any questions or need an ear, please have someone email me.

God’s Blessing on you, Connor

OFFENSE - Christ Himself is a offense, or stumbling block, to many - just as the message of the gospel is folly to the wise of the world.

Romans 9:31 but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. 32 Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. 33 As it is written:
“ Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense,
And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” [See Isaiah 8:14 and 28:16.] (NKJV)

Praise God for that Rock of Offense, that Cornerstone! May we all be foolish in the eyes of the world and wise in God's eyes.

Oops - that should be "an offense" in the first line of my comment above...
