Day 82 - September 5 - Clothing and chairs
Today had a couple more firsts in it for Connor. Today he was completely free from hospital gowns! It was encouraging to see him looking more himself. Also, the OTs spent quite a while fitting him for an electric wheelchair, which (once he can handle a portable ventilator) will set him free from his room.
This one is just a loaner from the hospital, another step in the process. He has mixed emotions about the chair, which I can understand. I remind him that doing these things does not mean we have given up on God's healing - it just means he'll have more things to occupy his time while we wait. Still, this is a hard thing for an active 18-year-old to have to take. Pray for his spirits.

Great picture of Connor and his new transportation. Looking good in 'street' clothes, too!
You are so correct in stating that the wheel chair is NOT a lack of faith for Connor's healing. A man has to do what a man has to do while waiting on the LORD.
We continue to pray that GOD will heal Connor - it will be in GOD's time, not ours.
Connor is in a good place for SCI. This is where our son was air flighted to after he broke his neck. He received great care and compassion.
We will be praying for Connor's spirits. May the HOLY SPIRIT lift Connor and comfort him.
Keeping all requests in our daily prayers.

Oh, it's so wonderful to see Connor out of bed and in normal clothes (*cou-nicepants-gh!*...hehehe)! As always, we will continue to pray for his complete physical restoration, and give praise to God for this small step of freedom.
It's great to see you smile, Connor!
Love in Christ,
Jenann and Lee
God Bless you Connor...always in our prayers!
Praising God for what he has done - and praying for you Connor!
You're looking good Connor!!
This can be just "one kind of freedom"
for now. I know you'll be working hard with PT's, etc. I'm praying for you and thinking of you often during the day.

Thank you , thank you, thank you. God is praised!!!
WOW CONNOR, you look wonderful in your new set of wheels. Now you and your dad have a new hobby together.....wheelchair racing! Enjoy the "ride" as I am sure they have you working hard. This is just a GIANT step into your new life. We are now passing the babysteps and going for GIANT steps.
We know God has even more wonders to show us through you. Keep the smile and know thousands are still praying for you and peeking at the blog ALL THE TIME.
We admire you and your family greatly. Thank you for sharing everything with us.

Be courageous, and He shall strengthen your heart, all of you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24
I know my situation is far different from Connor, and believe me, I am not comparing at all, but I understand a little bit of how he feels about the wheelchair.
The hardest part of me getting my scooter was knowing that I might have to use that the rest of my life. I put it off for the longest time, but you know, that thing has given me so much independence. I am able to do things that I did not get to do without someone else there to help me.
Of course, I was not an "eighteen year old, active boy" when I started using it, so like I said, it is really not a comparison, but he will be able to do many more things on his own soon.
That does not take away the fact that I am still praying God will heal him. Your family is one of the first thoughts I have every morning when I wake up, and each time I pray that God will send you some small (or huge) answer to prayer concerning Connor's life.
May God do just that today!

"Free from his room" - that has a wonderful sound to it! Always praying for complete restoration as well as each new step on this journey. Praying for your weekend.
