Day 82 - September 5 - Another move coming?
We spoke with the doctor today, and he seems to think Connor will be moving downstairs to the rehab unit this weekend. So yet another move looms. We haven't really gotten used to "here" yet, but soon there will be more newness to come.
We also have to decide whether we want to pursue surgical options to get the boy off the ventilator. Please be praying for us this weekend as we debate the possibilities, options, and how it meshes with our faith. We like our doctor, but we also respectfully disagree that the boy can't be weaned. This raises all sorts of frustrations with the idea of a diaphragmatic pacer, so we desperately desire your prayers.
Connor continues to get different sensations below his injury - we pray for the boy's restoration. Keep praying!
Also, thank you for all your offers of help with the house issues. The doctor told us today not to actually build anything until the therapists can help. So we're going to kind of tread water, house-wise, until we can figure out what needs to be done. We'll be sure to let everyone know as things progress.
Speaking of the doctor, we are pleased that he has decided to keep the boy as a patient even after Connor moves downstairs. This doesn't sound like his regular practice, so it pleases us that he has connected with Connor and the family in this way. Like I said, we like him.
Health-wise, Connor's heart has not done the dipsy-doodle last night or today at all. The tests from yesterday came back with no problems - his heart is healthy and strong; apparently it also beats slowly on occasion. I know I don't really need to keep saying this, but please keep praying.

We will pray for this decision with you. And we continue to pray for Connor's healing and for your family to have strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other. We will not give up on the miracle...we are keeping the faith!!
So glad to hear you like your new doctor. In the midst of the frustrations you've had lately, that's a positive that I'm sure was welcome.
God bless you. We love you!!

Still praying for Connor's restoration & for you all to be sustained during the transitions.
May you know that many people are continuing to uphold you in the midst of all you are going thru.
God knows best & He is good, all the time.
I was at the Live Oak/Sobrato game tonite & saw some Connorwatch t-shirts....
Praying for full recovery!...especially for being weaned from ventilator for now...
Our prayers continue to be with you...alot of decisions to make but we know that God is the great Healer and also will guide you in all things. Praise God for a physician who seems to have clicked with your family and with Connor...another prayer answered! Cheryl
Holy Spirit, I ask you to minister to their spirit this very moment. Where there is pain give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is doubt, release a renewed confidence through Your grace. In Jesus' precious name. Amen
If you feel as if Connor might be able to be weaned off the ventilator then request that they try it. Even if they look at you like you've just grown another head, if it's clear that it's not going to work then you will have greater peace going into the surgery. If it looks like there's a chance that it might work, then ask for more time to work on it.
When my daughter got pneumonia, they put her on a breathing tube/ventilator. After 2 (or 3) surgeries, multiple medication changes and FOUR failed attempts of removing the tube, we realized that our only option was for her to have a trach. BTW, most of what she went through was done at our request. If it was up to the doctors, they would have trached her early on. The doctors started talking "trach" very early in the game and it ended up being a road we had to go down but when we finally got there, we had a peace about it, knowing that we gave her (and God) every possible chance to show us that she didn't need it.
Whether Connor has the surgery or not - your family has to have peace about it. You might need to endure some disagreement from the medical professionals but your main concern is how you sleep at night, not them. Even though they play an important role in your journey, It is only a temporary one. The effect of the choices you make are more long lasting.
LORD, I pray that you bless this family with unity regarding the decisions they need to make and total peace about their decisions. Be a "lamp unto their feet" and clearly light the path that you would have them take. In Christ's precious name, Amen.
Praise God! One more step toward becoming whole again for Conner and his family.
Your friends,
Joey and Cindy Dalla
Still praying for you all. Remember, baby steps. Keep looking just at your feet and no further. That is all He give us.
You might meet a lady in the rehab unit named Verna Fazzio. She is the mother of Ledonna Scianna. As far as I know she does not know the Lord. She is moving to the unit next week.
