Day 103 - September 26 - Praises and Prayers
We had a family conference with the team today, where we went over a bunch of stuff about Connor's surgery next week, plus insurance and other issues. First, we are still on for Wednesday October 1 for the boy's surgery. They are running cultures to make sure he's done with his MRSA infection right now, with the results coming back Monday. Please be in prayer about this - as I understand it, he HAS to be clear of the MRSA to do the surgery, plus if these cultures don't come back clear, then the Centers for Disease Control gets involved and the word is that the isolation issues then become very serious and long-lasting. So please pray that he will be released from concerns about MRSA.
The doctors also told us they are targeting October 16 as the day for Connor to come home. I'm not too sure how realistic that is, but that's what they tell us. We're scrambling to get a few things in order by then - some way into our house for him, upgraded electrical to support the many machines that will be coming with him, and some method of transportation that he can get into. Please be praying for us as we try to address these challenges.
For those who don't know, CheriƩ's father and a team of friends are in the planning stages of an addition for Connor on the side of our house. I'm sure you'll hear more as we move along, but as of right now we've got some very qualified people helping us figure that part of our puzzle out. Thanks, you guys!
An interesting thing happened this afternoon - we thought that Connor's ventilator was working incorrectly because it was breathing about twice as fast as it was set for. We were a bit nervous, particularly after Connor told us it had been happening alot over the last few days. Well, it turns out that the vent was working correctly, set at 10 breaths per minute, and Connor was self-initiating 19-20 breaths per minute on his own! It stopped after a while, but I liked the fact that Connor has begun initiating breaths again. We spoke with the RT and they're going to try to get the doctor to order another vital capacity test Monday. So I continue to pray that the surgery won't even be necessary.
Speaking of the surgery, I forgot to tell you that the insurance company finally gave their written agreement to pay for the operation! Ooh, look - another prayer answered!
Tomorrow (9/27/08) is "W". Connor and I kicked this one around a bit and couldn't really come up with a good one we liked. I finally settled on a word my Dad used to use back when we were kids and he was praying - watchcare. I tried to find a good definition of it, but I can't find it in a dictionary anywhere. Dad would be praying, and he would say something like "Father, thank You for Your watchcare over us". Maybe that's just a good ol' downhome Texas word, but I love the sound and the sense of the word - that the Lord not only watches over us, but that He cares deeply about us as well. All in one word. So we are going to be praising the Lord for his compassionate, comforting watchcare over us through this all, and every day.
We love y'all - hold fast.
Eric

Ohhhh, you took my word! Well, not exactly. My word was "watchful," but the thought behind the word was exactly what you and Connor came up with. So...I'll have to add the next one I thought of:
WORD
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:1-2, 14
Even though it's technically a noun rather than an adjective/attribute, there is SO MUCH implied by the very use of that word in those verses. Before anything of or in the universe was created, before writing and typesetting and paper and binding and red letters were ever invented, the WORD existed. The WORD was (and is) God. Furthermore, the WORD came to earth and dwelt with humans. That's Jesus!! WORD = GOD = JESUS.
The WORD shows us our sin. The WORD saves. The WORD sanctifies. The WORD gives strength, hope, encouragement. The WORD is our weapon and our shield. How AMAZING that God reveals Himself to us in such a way. All praise be to Him!
And what a praise regarding Connor's breathing!!! That surgery very well may be rendered unnecessary. That's what I'm praying for.
Praying good rest for you all tonight. I love you guys.

Hi, Connor--so encouraged by today's news and your breathing improvement. Step by step, little by little, the mighty arm of the Lord is orchestrating something amazing. Thank you, Lord, for this positive step and your steadfast love. Our God reigns and He is Wonderful.
Thank you LORD for the good week Connor has had. You provide all the goodness in our lives.
We ask LORD that You continue to heal Connor - baby steps and giant leaps. There is no healing outside of GOD. A doctor may put the pieces back together but it is the stripes JESUS bore on HIS back that heal. Praise HIS name.
Keep the Faith Connor. Your light is on the mountain top for all of us to see.
GOD bless and good night.

I haven't joined in on the Alphabet challenge yet; but yes...God is our WATCHMAN.
Praise God that He never sleeps and always has his eyes on us.
Thank you Jesus that you are our
WONDERFUL Savior and Friend.
May all Grace Abound,
Bonnie/Fresno
Good morning Connor and Eric.
It is so good to hear about the improvement in breathing, insurance approval and the plans for going home! Although the thought of going home is probably a little scary for Connor, and for the whole family, the idea of being back home is so comforting.
One area of activity that will be important (I would imagine)is Connor's continued practice of using a computer, as well as controlling his own wheel chair. Regardless of where you are Connor, your computer will be your voice and the tool for your ministry to the lost and hurting people who are struggling with health and physical issues and who are angry and blaming God. Your talented family (parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents, etc.) all will play a significant part in getting such a vital ministry under way.
At some point, I hope you and your dad will put together the alphabet of "best words" submitted describing our Lord. I haven't been able to help out with this exercise, but I love the entries your "Fan Club" have come up with. Lots of thought and energy have gone into each one.
Have a great weekend and keep the Faith!
In His Love,

Praise God! Yet more answers to prayer!
God is WISE - and the giver of heavenly wisdom. His timing is perfect, His counsel sound. And what is the primary way we gain such wisdom and counsel? From His Word (great word, Jenann!), of course!
Jude 24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
And to present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
25 To God our Savior,
Who alone is wise,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,
Both now and forever.
Amen. (NKJV)
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (NKJV)
James 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (NKJV)
Ps 119:9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word.
10 With my whole heart I seek you;
let me not wander from your commandments!
11 I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you. (ESV)
He is WILLING to hear our prayers.
Those were all wonderful answers to prayerss. I cannot wait to hear how God has answered more in the next coming weeks!
God is With Us!!
Even though this is really the meaning of Emmanuel...the letter W immediately brings to mind that God is WITH US!!!
2 Chronicles 13:12 NIV
God is with us; he is our leader. His priests with their trumpets will sound the battle cry against you. Men of Israel, do not fight against the Lord, the God of your fathers, for you will not succeed."
Psalms 46:7 NIV
The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. "Selah"
Ya'll have a WONDERFUL Weekend and Lords Day!
Lovingly,
tonia
He's our WARRIOR
Praise God He goes to battle for us and also intercedes when we have no words or ability to pray.
I also see Connor being a mighty warrior in God's army. Praise God.
He is our WORD, our only offensive WEAPON against the enemy.
Wonderful, Warrior, Watchman, Willing
Great news Connor...keep it up!
Dear God,
Thank You and praise be to You for every little feeling, twitch, movement, breath, effort, step, and blessing You have bestowed on Connor Williamson over the past 103 days. Thank You for saving his life. Thank you for preserving his mind and spirit. Thank You for continuing to heal Connor. Thank You for his doctors and therapists. Thank You for his family and friends. Thank You for his faith. Thank You for bringing him home. Thank You for allowing Connor to bring all of us closer to You through ConnorWatch.

Could my word for the day just be 'WOW!" b/c that's how I feel about all God is doing in Connor's life and all that your family has shared w/ us. My other word is "withstanding" which is defined as "to stand against,to oppose (as an attack) successfully". Without God there is no way to fight against the depression, anger or hopelessness that Satan would want us to have. Thanks be to God for His opposition to Satan--even tho' doubt still crosses our minds every day, we are not submerged by it! Hang in there, praying for good lab results re: MRSA.
He is the way - that conjures up so much to me as well as the way of salvation he shows us the way to go when we are perplexed. Sometimes it's rather eleventh hour - God seems to wait to stretch our faith, but he shows us.
I contine to pray that He will be the way for you particularly with the big issues coming this week.
Worker of wonders (Judges 13:19).
As I thought about W, I was reminded of this blog post I wrote a couple of months ago: The One Who Works Wonders
If you read it, I pray it might be an encouragement to you.
As many wonders as God is working in and through your family, I'm specifically praying for one that involves Oct. 1.
Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!
Psalm 105:2
Lord willing, I look forward to doing this with you in corporate worship tomorrow.
Watching and waiting with you,
Chris

Funny (although not haha funny) how we measure our worth. It's usually by the things we accomplish. That's not God's economy, though. He created us to glorify Him. Everytime the character of God is accurately discussed on this blog, He is glorified - our attention is drawn to Him not a person, especially ourselves. Connor, you were made to glorify God, too. That's what you do when you post one of his attributes for us to read and respond to. You direct us to our Father. Thanks for doing your job today.
