Day 74 - August 28 - High Point of the Night

Connor's day went pretty well. The downs weren't that down - he spent a couple of minutes in a chair but the cushioning was not right for him and so that got cut short - but it was cut short by technical issues, not medical ones, so we can deal with that. The good points of the day were pretty good, too - good friends came to visit, including a surprise visit from a family friend whom Connor adores; some more family friends brought us all dinner (with pie for dessert!); and Connor was in good spirits most of the day and was interacting with all of us, enjoying our time together. One of our friends brought numerous tales of how God is working in Morgan Hill, in many other seemingly unconnected places, and in her own life through Connor's ordeal, and she was a real blessing to us as she helped us see some of the ripples that are spreading as God uses Connor's story.

The highlight of the evening though, was when he got his shot of some long-named medicine that prevents blood clots from forming. The nurses give him this shot in his belly, and he said many weeks ago that he couldn't wait to feel it. Tonight, after she was done, he said "I think I felt that shot!" We asked him what he meant, and he said "It hurts near my belly button". That's where she gave the shot! Connor couldn't see the injection point because of his position in bed, and he got it right!

I don't think it was a specific "Ouch, that hurts!" kind of feeling yet, it was the pain afterward that he felt. The fact that he feels it is HUGE! We are praising God for this answer to prayer - the prayer we prayed last night and this morning that God would give the boy something new that he could feel or move today.

Please continue to lift him up, and us as well. Cherié and I are going to run up to San Jose tomorrow to talk to the people at Valley again, while Joélle and her friend stay with the boy. It will be a lightning-quick trip - we're trying to get there and back before the holiday weekend crowd becomes an issue. Please pray for our safety, and that the visit will be positive, productive, and give us a clear sense of God's direction.

Thank you all for your faithfulness.

Eric

I remember giving those shots to my husband. He use to complain the injection area was sore for quite awhile afterwards. Thank God for small blessings and that Connor can feel a bit of pain!

Praying for good results tomorrow at Valley. You'll be just a few blocks from our home, so I will be thinking and praying for you all as I drive by VMC on my way to school with the boys!

I have heard many good things about VMC injury recovery programs!

Dear Eric and Family,
I was doing some reading last night and felt led to put a small passage on this blog.

"When life turns black, praise and thanksgiving don't flow quite so easily! Instead, I have to deliberately choose to follow God's advice and 'in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5: 18). Although I don't feel like praising the Lord or thanking Him, I do what God says, and that effot makes my praise a sacrifice. When I do lift such a sacrifice of praise to God out of the darkness of my trials, I find the Spirit's joy magnified in my life - just as lifting a diamond to the light against a black background enhances its brilliance!"

I am praying that through these hard times, you will experience God's exceedingly great joy.

Hi Williamson family,

Just a thought on the insurance issue ~ if Eric's company is self-insured, then company management should have some say in what is paid for by their plan. If Eric's manager/HR department would get involved, the insurance company might be willing to pay for something they have said isn't covered.

Praying for you,

Praise the Lord for that exciting news.

I started teaching again (after being "off" for nine years) and now my class knows about Conner.

They are praying for him too!

Hello,

I posted the science vs. prayer comment, and I really had no right. Your belief in God is fasinating to me, and that is why I must be reading this everyday.

My 21 year old son fell ill June 8 with West Nile virus and was in the ICU for 1 week. My nightmare ended when your had just begun. Something miraculous happened in the hospital, I started praying. When I returned home I went to church for the first time in my life, and have since gone every Sunday.

I apologize for seeming insensitive. I am just at an exploring stage, and learning to have faith. Eric, your honesty in this journey has hit me so hard. Your faith almost unbelievable to me, which I guess explains my heartless post.

I have and do pray for all of you, just a beginner.

Thank you for sharing this journey.

Anonymous at 9:05am...welcome to this journey. One of the great joys of walking with God is that he LOVES beginners. Your honesty and humility to apologize was very touching. Blessings to you today!!

Just a thought to share with Anonymous who wrote today at 9:05 am above.

I am so happy to hear that you are a new believer, and that you are exploring the issue of faith. That is such a tribute to this blog - Connor Watch!

Although we know that God is the One who changes our hearts and causes us to follow Him, Eric and his brothers have demonstrated their obedience to our Lord by creating this blog for Connor. Through this blog, many people have had their faith strengthened and have joined in a brotherhood of believers -- some of whom are prayer warriors, and some of whom are just beginning. But God is pleased.

Connor has a story to tell. And one day when he is at the point of rehab where he is among other people with similar disabilities - Conner will be a strong voice for the Lord and he will be gathering new believers to the fold. I know God will be pleased with the work He has laid out for Connor.

I know the Williamson's welcome you to Connor's blog. It's great that you have joined the rest of us who wait upon the Lord.

Anonymous at 0905 - first, please understand that you haven't upset, offended, or otherwise chapped me or any of my family off - in fact, I am extraordinarily pleased that you are on this journey with us! I appreciate your candor, and you have every right to post your comments - particularly as even statements that challenge also help us examine and increase our own faith. It thrills me that you were brought into a position where you began to pray, searching for something greater than yourself. I don't mean "I'm glad your son had this thing happen to him" - I mean that from my perspective, this is one of the things that God is working together for good (read Romans 8, particularly verse 28). So it pleases me that we can be of some small help for you as you seek your own answers. I hope it is apparent that I believe you will find the answer to every one of your questions in knowing Christ Jesus as Lord. Please join us whenever you will.

I would ask one thing, if I may - when you feel comfortable, please give us a name, whether real or "screen". It is so much more personal than "Anonymous at 0905"! 8-)

God bless, my friend.
