Day 48 - August 2 - Seizure

We just walked out of Connor's room after helping the staff deal with a seizure. This is the first time we've seen this in Connor, and it seemed to take everyone by surprise. The seizure lasted less than a minute, and CheriƩ had to pry the boy's jaws apart to prevent him from biting his tongue.

The staff is taking him for a CT scan right now to try to figure out what happened. There are many reasons for seizures, including blood flow issues, neurological reasons, blood sugar levels and I'm sure a myriad of others, so we don't know what happened yet, and may never know. We are praying specifically against strokes and clots, and praying that there would be no damage from the episode whatsoever.

Immediately afterward, Connor was able to track people around the room, respond to commands and questions, and even grinned at the RT when he said "Well, Connor, that's enough excitement for today, don't you think?" All of his functions were equal on both sides of his face, which is hopeful.

Our God is sovereign and in control - we know where our help comes from. So though we are concerned, and have new things to pray about, we don't panic at this news. In fact, CheriƩ just said that this is just one more test of our faith, and the amazing thing is that we all reacted well, by faith turning to the Lord in prayer, doing what we could and trusting God for the rest.

Please continue to lift the boy up - I believe this is the turning point. God is moving.

Gracious Father,
Your mercy endures forever, Hallelujah! Bless Connor tonight, give him sweet sleep and precious healing rest. Comfort Joelle, Cherie`, and Eric as they rest too. I pray that work will be a smooth transistion for Eric as he returns part-time. Jehovah-Jireh, our Provider, provide their every need. We praise You for Connor's improvements. Protect him Father from any other seizures, continue to heal from the inside out. We praise You Father for all things. In Jesus' name,
Amen

Lord Bless and keep you all, what a blessing, turning quickly to the Lord, I know when these things happen to me I often react a bit before getting into prayer. You are all such an encouragement to all of us. Debbie started having seizures after not having them for a long time the doctors ran all the tests and couldn't find anything new. I was bothered at the time by her being so cold all the time her temp was always around 92 but the doctors never said anything about that either so I looked it up on the computer and it said a temp of 92 was hypothermia and that it could cause seizures so I started making sure she was warm and when it was cold at night I cranked up the heater, no more seizures but I also know there are many causes I just mention this because I remember an update where Connor's Temp was around 92 also. You all are so loved and we are all still praying, draw near to Him and He will draw near to you,
God bless and be with you and give you sweet rest tonight, He will take the night shift.

as i leave for bed...and check the blog i am greeted by the seizure news...amazingly i am not startled.

i feel a sense of peace in your writings that is new. your tone is steady and strong and faithful even within this disturbing moment.

you reflect on it with ease, having His peace with you. Allelujah...God we love you, we praise you and we worship you. Yes, we worship you even now.

Satan you cannot and will not have power over this boy. God bless Connor tonight and keep his family protected.

In Jesus name, amen
