Day 51 - August 5 - Another phone post
Just a quick post this time. First, I want to say again how much I appreciate everyone's comments about faith and the will of God, and I mean everyone's. I'll mention Charlene by name, so that she (and you) understand that I am in no way offended by her, nor anybody else's, thoughts and views. God has all of us on a jouney of faith, and I can't and won't make any claim to having definitive knowledge here. I believe, from what little I am coming to know, that what my understanding of faith was vs. what it really is are two separate things. Other than that, I think God is still teaching me. I would encourage us not to become distracted by futile arguments and stay with what we do know - God is working in us and wants us to be receptive to His teaching, regardless of how that fits with what we think we know. I value all of your insight as it helps me test my own understanding against the scripture.
I haven't heard about the boy yet this morning. I found much comfort this morning from 2 Corinthians 1:3-11. Check it out.
I'll post more when I know it. Love you all!

My devotion this a.m. was on exactly what was commented on yesterday... I'll share one part of it: "[T]he late D. L. Moody said, “Spread out your petition before God, and then say, ‘Thy will, not mine, be done.’ ” Moody concluded, “The sweetest lesson I have learned in God’s school is to let the Lord choose for me.”
Amen!
Beautifully stated, Eric. And the words of D.L. Moody mentioned in the above post sums up all of it. May God give each one of you the fortitude, strength, patience and trusting hope to stand firmly in His grip, knowing His love is perfect.

And here is today's reading from Daily Light:
Thy will be done.
O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.--Not as I will, but as thou wilt.--Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.
We know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Ye know not what ye ask.--He gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.--These things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
I would have you without carefulness.--Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
MAT. 26. 42. Je. 10. 23.--Mat. 26. 39.--
Ps. 131. 2. Ro. 8. 26, 27. Mat. 20. 22.--
Ps. 106. 15.--1 Co. 10. 6. 1 Co. 7. 32.
Is. 26. 3.
Praise the Lord that through all of this the Spirit does interceeds for us, because so often we don't know how to pray, but praise God He knows how to do it perfectly.
Amen.
Charlene
Eric thanks for your understanding, know that a lot of my comments just come from struggles that I had to go through myself.
May I just say that this whole experience of following Connor's journey on the blog has been a school of prayer for me. Praise God for the work that He is doing.

"On belay" - a question given to the trustworthy one who hold the rope that secures you while rock climbing.
"Belay on" - the response from the trustworthy one, meaning you can put your full weight on, and it will hold.
From one who was with Eric on that first pinnacles climb. BELAY ON!
I am continually praying that conor will move and that the healing hand of God will touch and restore him. Flipping through my Bible i came across this scripture:
"When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, 'Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?'
Daniel answered, 'O king, live forever! My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king."
Daniel 6:20-22
Also, Psalm 2
"Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his Annointed One.
"Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters." The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, " I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill. I will proclaim the decree of the Lord: He said to me," You are my Son; today i have become your Father. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possesion. You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery. Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
Love,
Anna, Savannah's friend
