Day 30 - July 15 - Praise!!! From Cherie

This is Cherie, The Tech. support is at home trying to move our RV to Fresno today. I really wanted to let you all know how much I see God moving in this place. Connor is still in the bed that rocks him back and forth 24/7, but I get to see his handsome face each day, unlike the Iron Maiden. He still smiles even when he is sick to his stomach and retching from some of the machines. The good stuff is this... He is beginning to feel the sensations like pressure to use the bathroom, delicately speaking... that is. ;-) He has been retching, and coughing when they suction his trach., he is feeling cold, complaining and needing a blanket, and telling the nurse that his arm is being pinched. All these are awesome signs that his nerves are starting to come alive. Even the Respiratory Tech. has been noticing the different sensations showing up in the last couple days. Whooo hoo!!! He says this is all good stuff!! Slow and steady... God is so good!! This mom is so happy to hear that her son has to use the bathroom!!!

God is good indeed! Its the small things that God does that are amazing when you sit back and take notice of them. To the average person, we take all these sensations of feeling for granted. But, for Connor, these sensations (good or bad) are proof of God working to create a miracle within him. I pray that for Connor the feelings would start to be more good ones and less bad ones, so that he can begin to feel more comfortable and start feeling like he can have some of his normal life back.

Also for the rest of the family, I pray especially that Eric can get the RV to fresno quickly and safely so that you have a home (away from home) that you can really feel is your own place to go after long days at the hospital with Connor.

I'm still praying for and awaiting the day when Connor is able to be moved much closer to home. I have no doubt in my mind that God will choose the perfect time to move, and the perfect place to move to.

Cherie,

Thanks for posting this great news! I have a friend who is praying for Connor and from the beginning, God has been telling her not to worry, that Connor will be restored (rather than healed). I didn't understand what she meant - what is the difference? But she says restoration is little by little. We all wish he would just get up out of that bed and walk out the door, but if God's plan is to restore him little by little(in His time) it will be worth he wait! Those doctors will have no choice but to give God the credit! I am praising God with you! Please call me if you need anything today for small blessings!
Love,
Laura

In tears of JOY, Praise God!!!
PS-Cherie, I saw your beautiful photo in the Hollister Motorcycle Rally Event Guide. Did your band play there? I didn't know if it was The Country Outlaws, but we weren't there to hear or see them play. Just curious...
PSS-Isaiah thinks Connor is funny and can tell he has a great sense of humor in the photos we looked at yesterday on the site. He would like to visit him too even though he doesn't know him personally. He's only 9, so I don't think he's old enough yet to be in the CCU, but when Connor gets back home, we'll be there!
God Bless You All, especially Connor!

I just got out of my chair and did the Happy Dance!!! God is so good! I'm crying tears of joy and praising our LORD for these small (yet HUGE) signs of progress.

Praying that God will cause added sensations and bring on the movement. (Interpret that last bit however you wish!) ;P

Love you guys,

Jenann

Cherié,

Great news!! If I'm excited to hear it I can only imagine what you're feeling right now. And your "home" is on the way. I think this would make it a good day from the perspective of both Tigger AND Eyeore. :)

God bless and thanks for taking the time to share!!

Well praise to all mothers out there who can appreciate the small steps out children take. You need to post more often Cherie, Eric we love you too, but as mothers we see the small gains and HUGE. This was a very positive post and it helps to keep distant friends online and happy to keep praying.

Cherie,

As a mother of a two year old whom I am trying very hard to potty train I understand the joy of the boy feeling the need to go. Truly baby steps....but I can rejoice with you in that "feeling" in your son. It is amazing how such simple things can thrill a mama. Even a child feeling discomfort can bring us joy...just to feel anything!

We all loved to hear how you are doing. I am so thrilled that you will have a home away from home to call your own! Simple pleasures for us true home makers! Some place for you to be alone with your daughter and hubby. (tigger and Eyeore and Kangaa;-)

We will keep you in our prayers and keep those request coming and also ALL the updates. Happy and not
so happy. You are such a blessing to us.

Thank you,
Amy S. Myers for Tim and Kido's

Praise God! I never thought it would be so exciting to hear a mother be happy for pain and wanting to use the bathroom, but in Connor's case, this is awesome! I know that the pain that he feels while his nerves are awakening can be hard, but remember each "pain" he feels, is a good sign!

As always,
Michawn

More prayers from Kansas are headed your way. I learned about Conner via an email from Tami Schrock,a friend of mine, asking for prayers. I know only to well how important prayer is. I have a sone who was diagnosed with a terminal illness when he was only 3 years old. At that time there was no treatment for what he has. We were told that the average life span for someone with what he has is 7-10 years of age. He will turn 8 in Sept, and is doing better than we could have ever hoped for, and I feel that he will be with us for many more years. I owe this to the many prayers sent his way. Amazingly, about a year after he ws diagnosed, the FDA approved a new drug to treat (not cure) his illness. It has dramatically changed his health status and quality of life. He continues on a weekly IV infusion. Thank God, I am a nurse and can now do this from our own home! To me this medication is a true miracle! So, on those days when you are tired, at your lowest, and feel helpless, NEVER GIVE UP! Help from others whether it be financial, physical help with chores ect., or spiritual is sometimes difficult to accept. My advise to you is to humble yourself and accecpt this assistance as it will make your currently very stressful lives much easier and will make the giver of this help feel as if they are doing what they can. It has been my experienc that out of everything bad that happens to a person, something good will happen also. Take care of Conner and yourselves. My prayers are with you.

Cherie "Whooo Hoo is right! Praise God!. I am reminded of one of my favorite songs as I read your note.......
"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).
There is a sense of peace as Connor starts feeling sensations, it's only the beginning, and knowing that the miracle is from above, the MIGHTY HEALER!
Continually praying,
The Brogan's
