Day 42 - July 27 - How long?

Psalm 13

The first four verses are my new life verses, effective 42 days ago.

1 How long, O LORD ? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?

2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?

3 Look on me and answer, O LORD my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;

4 my enemy will say, "I have overcome him,"
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

I am still having a hard time with verses 5 and 6.

5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.

6 I will sing to the LORD,
for he has been good to me.

Please pray for us.

God is good... all the time.

Remember when Vince used to say "God is good..." and the congregation would respond "all the time"? It was much easier to respond that way back then, wasn't it?

God hasn't changed, we know that.

Lord, increase our faith.

I've been wearing my ConnorWatch t-shirt. My mom ordered some and had them shipped to her in Oregon and then in turn shipped one to me in Texas.
It's neat to be able to tell Connor's story to strangers in the grocery store or at restaurants when they ask about my shirt. Random strangers that God puts into my path are praying for Connor. It's neat to see God at work:)

Praying, fasting, and waiting with you.
Psalm 61:1-4
1. Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. 2. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3. For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. 4. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.

We cannot only trust in the good times...what would that gain.

Eric! Eric! Remember, God says Remember!! He has promised to always be there..always save...always protect...always proceed ahead of us.

Have faith dear friend in Christ. We are with you, He is with you, Connor is with you. On the other side of this drama is Connor and his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Our God WILL NOT fail him. Our God WILL USE YOUR SON to glorify Him. I know that. And I also know you know it too..deep down you know it too.

Today we sang out in church...

Blessed be your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where the streams of abundance flow
Blessed be your name

Blessed be your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be your name

Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord

Blessed be your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's all as it should be, Blessed be your name

Blessed be your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be your name

Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, Blessed be your name

Today I did my very first prayer fast and it was an honor to do this for Connor. Thank you for letting us pray and fast with you. There are so many people here in Fresno who don't know you personally but love your family so much because you have opened your life up to us!

Still praying for miracles!

I know it is so easy to say, "God is good," when you are not going through the situation. We all know that is true, but sometimes, there is wishing His "good" is what we want, huh?

We are still praying and won't stop! I could not stop thinking of Connor today, while we were singing in church.

May God bless you tonight, and give you some peaceful rest.

Good evening Eric,
The Psalm that Deanna shared is so rich and as we continue to lift up Connor today, reminds me of God's faithfulness in hearing our cries and how He is our shelter in the storms of life, with the wind and waves.
I spent much time in James today especially Chapter 5:13-16, and also in Lamentations 3:21-26 where we are reminded to put our hope in the Lord.
I pray that God will minister to you all there as you claim God's precious promises and ask Him for faith as we continue to put our hope in Him for Connor's restoration. Also, as an added gift, the hymn "Be Still My Soul" has been playing in my heart (you can google the words and read them since it is hard to include here)throughout the day of prayer. I pray that God will give you all songs of joy specifically to reassure and comfort you in the waiting. Our family wishes you all and Connor a blessed night of rest and confidence in God being near to you as you put your faith in Him, and He will lift you up.

The Steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning, new every morning. Great is Thy Faithfulness oh God...Great is Thy Faithfulness.

I continue to pray with heartfelt concern.

Thank goodness; our Hope is in Him,
Our Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth.

Another Devotion

This week's promise: God has wonderful plans for your life
What's in store for you?

The Lord will guide you continually, watering your life when you are dry and keeping you healthy, too.

Isaiah 58:11 NLT

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy powerful ha nd;
Bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more,
Feed me till I want no more.
William Williams

A step at a time

Wouldn't you like to know now what is in store for you a year from now? God leads us a day a time, a step at a time. No need to worry about distant events. The Welsh hymn writer William Williams compared the Christian life to the Israelite's trek through the wilderness. We may not know the route by which God is leading us, but we humbly count on His guidance.

As a college student, Williams prepared for a career in medicine. But one Sunday morning he heard a man preaching in a Welsh churchyard. Williams responded in faith, and his life was radically changed. For forty-three years he preached and sang throughout Wales. "He sang Wales into piety," said one writer. He was the poet laureate of the Welsh revival. Soon, all of Wales was singing their way to the coal mines and soccer matches. And their favorite hymn was this marching song by one of their own: "Guide me, O Thou Great Jehovah.…Songs of praises I will ever give to Thee."
