Day 40 - July 25 - A few prayer answers
Connor spent the night on his back in the roto-prone. Although he spiked a fever last evening, that was brought under control by the time we left last night. The sense we got was that, if he did well on his back overnight, and showed enough improvement in his lungs this morning, that they would move him back to the red rocking bed. I haven't gotten to the hospital yet this morning, and it's still too early for them to have the results of this morning's X-rays, so please continue to pray that Connor's lungs will be, and continue to be, clear of any infection so he can get off this bed.
Yesterday, the RTs changed Connor's respirator settings to a different mode of breathing. Cherié and Joélle told me (when they got back to the RV last night) that the machine was set at 12 respirations per minute, but he was breathing at 20! I asked if they had seen any purple. On the ventilator screen, there are squiggly yellow and green lines that move along as the machine breathes, and they turn purple when the boy does any respiration on his own. The taller the jump in the line, the more air is moving into his lungs. The machine's "breaths" are about 1.5 inches tall on the screen. We occasionally have seen small, eighth- or quarter-inch bumps in the line that turn purple, so what I was asking was whether the boy was drawing the breath, and if so, how strong they were. They excitedly told me that the purple bumps were more than an inch tall! Joélle asked Connor if he was doing that, and he said "I'm doing it on purpose"!
He stopped it shortly thereafter, and the machine settled back into the 12 respirations per minute again, but we all took that as a very encouraging sign, that Connor was able to signal muscles to pump his lungs. I do not know if the diaphragm was involved, and it still seems to be a voluntary action rather than autonomic, but it's a step in the right direction. So I praise God for that step.
Other prayers answered -
- Alan has obtained a ride down today. Thank you, all who offered!
- Spirit West Coast has agreed to refund 90% of our cost for the tickets and campsite, so I have sent the tickets back to them via FedEx. As a word of clarification, the impression I originally received from them, and which I passed on to you, was that I could expect to have 50% of our cost returned, and was told that the manager of the box office would work with us to arrange anything more than that. I didn't intend to convey that this was a heartless decision on their part - they didn't owe me anything. I knew when I bought the tickets that SWC has a no refund policy, so I went into the discussion with the knowledge that anything at all was a better refund than I was owed. But I admit I had hoped for more than I perceived I had been offered, which is why I decided to try to bless someone else with the tickets. Thankfully, and to SWC's credit, they contacted me quickly when the misunderstanding came to their attention, and we got it all straightened out. I want to specifically thank Juliane and Ginger at SWC for their efforts on our behalf, as well as their willingness to work with me in this unusual situation.
They also have passed Connor's situation and website on to their prayer chain, which is very, very appreciated!
We'll be heading over to see the boy soon. I'll make sure to post up as soon as something comes along. For now, please remember how desperately we covet your continued prayers for Connor's recovery.

As i wake every morning to read to daily news, this brought tears to my eyes. Seeing him in this bed is heart wrenching, and I prayed immediately. I then read onward and cried tears of praise and joy to our father who knows this boy...will save this boy...will use this boy for His Glory. Glory and praise to our Lord Jesus Christ on this beautiful day He has given us.. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Wow - that is one unbelievable contraption...and yet an amazing piece of medical equipment. I can't imagine what it must be like for Connor to be in that thing. But then again, I can't imagine what the whole Williamson family is going through now either. I hope he doesn't have to spend any more time in it, and that all the signs of improvement continue. Yours and Connor's strength through this ordeal continues to be amazing!

Well "Tex", it looks like the Eeyore side of you struck again regarding SWC. Isn't God good to care about all the details of our lives. Admittedly, I have been known to pray for good parking spots and He usually provides them. I take those answers as little "Hugs" and whispers of "Here you go, Sweetheart. I love you" from my Father and Bridegroom. This from the God who likes to count the hairs on our head.
I'm helping out as a receptionist at a beautiful office in Brentwood, TN. It has been challenging to read the blogs throughout the day and not be crying when someone walks in or have my voice crack when I'm answering the phone. But today, I didn't have time to think. When I read about Conner's purple lines, my arms shot straight up in the air with my index fingers pointing to God, my chair flew back behind me as I jumped to my feet and said, "YES!" If the Titans had already started playing, I'm sure the folks around here would have not thought a thing about that. But this was a great touchdown for The Boy and The Lord!!!
Still expecting great things ahead!

Today I am specifically going to pray for a miracle all day! I'm also praying that this weekend will be especially uplifting Connor and the family.
We lift you up fellow members of the family of God,

The rollercoaster continues...
I made the mistake of opening the blog at work today. When I saw Connor in the Iron Maiden,I began to cry.Not the typical tire shop experience, I assure you.
But as I read Eric's blog about Connor breathing "on purpose" I was so encouraged.
We are so completely unable to fathom the greatness of our God. Truly His ways are as far above our ways as the heavens are above the earth.
Still praying and crying for you all (Jeff doesn't have all the tears). Here's a note of encouragement from our friends in Texas - lots of support and prayers for you.

Linda and All,
Just to let you and the class know, as agreed last Sunday, I requested the $200 be sent to to the Connor Watch Benefit from our Gold Box Mission Funds.
Liz, was to send the check today (Thursday) with Westoak Baptist Church letterhead/note. She is keeping a copy of this information for John Richardson when he gets back from Colorado.
We need to keep praying and expecting a God's miracle. Connor seems like a wonderful person who loves the Lord.

Good Morning Connor and Family,
Hey, when I read the first comment by Kathleen I was real excited because this morning while reading your up date I felt strongly that the Lord will heal Connor,
(For His Glory) Talk about like minded. I don't know what scripture off hand but will look it up, I think it was Moses who said to the Lord that He needed to save His people not for them but for God's Glory so others will see that our God is all powerful, Amen!
Psalm 115:13-18
He will bless those who fear the Lord, both great and lowly.
May the Lord richly bless both you and your children.
May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
The heavens belong to the Lord,
but He has given the earth to all humanity.
The dead cannot sing praises to the Lord,
for they have gone into the silence of the grave.
But we can praise the Lord
both now and forever!
I will look up the other scripture later, unless someone else beats me to it, IM of to Friday morning ladies prayer meeting, there's much to pray about

PS Is Granny P all better?
Hi Williamson's,
Our hearts ache to see what Connor and you are having to go through..No words can explain..
I know that you are holding onto His word..this verse just comforted me and pray that it comforts you today:
"I lift up my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip- he who watches over you(Williamson Family) will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you- the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm- he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." Ps. l2l..
We lift you up constantly to our mighty God.. who holds you all very close..
With much love,
MacPhail Family
Awwww man! Smiling here in Morgan Hill because Connor took 8 breaths on his own! :D Today I'm going to pray for the number to be 12, doubling the machine setting for resps./min. I'm so encouraged there's been some improvement in Connor's lungs. Glory to God! Keep working it out, Jesus.

Thinking about Spirit West Coast I just want to thank you, Williamsons, for being there last year when my son Josh was baptized. Just last week he was talking about it again, listing the people who were present, including your family. Very appropriate, since "Big Joelle"(Cherie) was invited to Josh's 3rd birthday party as well! I am happy to know that some of his West Hills family was there with him, even though I wasn't. God was working all things together for good then, as He is now.
Continuing to pray for Connor's restoration for your good and for His glory.
Michele
