Day 37 - July 22 - Here comes Kent!

Got the word a bit ago that Kent has made it onto the plane and will be arriving in Fresno in about an hour. I thought y'all would like to know!

Two amazing things happened this afternoon - first, a dear sister (who also happens to be a nurse in the trauma unit) sat me down today to have a heart-to-heart about her concerns for us. She told me a number of things that make a lot of sense (I'll share more about that later sometime), but her real gift was her gracious compassion for Connor and our family. She has been a true blessing this last week, and this afternoon assisted me in getting a bit more of a grasp on how we deal with where we are. Thanks, sis!

The other thing happened here when I went in to the RV park office to pay the rent. As I was telling Connor's story to the owner of the park, the manager chimed in to tell me that she had been paralyzed for two weeks after a car accident when she was young, with damage to C3/4/5. I would never have suspected from dealing with her. She is the third person we've met in this RV park who has had a spinal injury and experienced full recovery.

My talk with my nurse friend helped me see a more balanced view of MRSA than the one I got from the internet, and helped me view things in a more balanced fashion. We are trusting God to restore my son and deal with these complications. Thank you for your continued prayers!

Sometimes we have angels all around us and we aren't aware of them. That dear Trama Nurse must be one of them! The Lord sends them to us just at the right time.

My son-in-law had MRSA while recovering from cancer surgery of the thorax (voice box and tongue removed) that requires a permanent feeding tube and trach. But with very powerful antibotics, he recovered from the MRSA. Conner will too, I feel sure.

We continue to pray for Conner and for all your family. (Glad your brother Kent will soon be with you.)

Isn't it funny (funny-peculiar, not funny-haha) how we can be completely deflated or scared senseless by something, and next thing you know, God sends signs of encouragement to help us hold on for another hour...another day...another week.

I'm thanking God for putting just the right people in your path today. Hold on, brother. Hold on.

Jenann

Hi Eric,

The story re the person in the RV park prompted me to give you some other encouragement.

While were were in Manila, we were talking to some New Tribes missionaries and in the group there was a single missionary who was perhaps 55 years old. In passing she told us that she had had an accident when she was younger, had broken her neck, and was a quadriplegic. She obviously wasn't one now so I asked, 'What happened'?

She responded, 'Well, after about four or five weeks, my feeling began to come back, and I finally got up and checked myself out of the hospital; and I took my cervical collar off myself"!

I then told her about Connor. I share this to encourage you. Lets keep praying, and who knows what will happen!!

I came across this beautiful song and wanted to share the lyrics with you...

Press On by Selah

When the valley is deep
When the mountain is steep
When the body is weary
When we stumble and fall

When the choices are hard
When we're battered and scarred
When we've spent our resources
When we've given our all

In Jesus' name, we press on
In Jesus' name, we press on
Dear Lord, with the prize
Clear before our eyes
We find the strength to press on

In Jesus' name, we press on
In Jesus' name, we press on
Dear Lord, with the prize
Clear before our eyes
We find the strength to press on
To press on

Yesterday when I read your Blog, honestly sharing your feelings my heart ached for your emotional pain. Even people with strong faith, experience pain, anger and intense grief so there is no need to apologize for sharing your feelings. We are all here to support Connor, you and your family in prayer. Last night I found this Contemporary Hymn in one of my piano books, written by James Bastien:

When I get down and need a lift
I close my eyes and say a prayer;
Jesus my Savior, comfort me,
Father eternal, O I call on thee.

Lord you are my sunshine,
Lord you are my sunshine,
You are my sunshine
You light up my days (Refrain)

When things go wrong and I feel kind of blue,
I close my eyes, and I call on You;
Comfort me Lord, in my hour of need,
I will follow where e're You will lead

When times are hard, and the goin' is rough
I close my eyes, and I call out your name;
Jesus, hear me now as I say,
You are the light of every day.

We are praying that God will heal Coonor's lungs of this infection and that he will ultimately be made whole again.

In the precious name of Jesus,
Joan Grewohl (Drew's Aunt)

Keep on...keeping on! God is good and provides just-in-time reassurance that HE is in control! Bless those that are able to be around you and encourage you personally. Emails/blogs can only do so much...the closest thing to being there!

Love you,
Evalena

Precious Williamson Family,

You are covered in prayer here in Durham, NC. I check the blog throughout the day (and even night) and am carrying all of you in my heart.
