Day 30 - July 15 - Spiritual Attack

I'm sitting at my desk at one o'clock in the morning, trying to catch up on ConnorWatch email and site tweaking, and my phone rings. Of course I assume it is Eric, but it is not. It is my 16 year old son Beck, calling from Summer Music Camp, at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, where he is studying percussion for the next two weeks.

Over the next few minutes, I realize that he is very scared as he asks for my help. Seems he and his roommate Keith got into a conversation lying in bed after lights out at 10:00, and started talking about life, and the way things are, and over the course of the next couple of hours, the conversation circled around to Beck's relationship with God, and his understanding of what the Bible says, and what that means to Beck. Now Beck is a believer on this journey with us, and Keith is not, still trying to figure things out after a pretty rocky start in life.

Now here is where it gets interesting. Around 1:00, they both get this weird feeling, and sense a malevolent presence in the room, and are suddenly startled by a loud growl. Scared to death, Beck prays out loud with Kieth, and then calls me.

For those of you that share an understanding of the spiritual battle that surrounds us, it is obvious what is going on. Beck and Kieth are under attack, which tactically makes good sense, from an evil point of view. Kieth is not claimed at this point, and is worth fighting for, and attacking Beck distracts the Williamsons from the work that is being done through Connor and ConnorWatch.

I pray with Beck on the phone, claiming deliverance for Beck and Kieth, and pray that God would provide spiritual and physical protection, as well as grant them peace to sleep this night through. I promise to get our prayer warriors into the fray on his behalf. We hang up with the assurance that he can call me anytime during the night.

I called Eric, and he and his crew are on it. Now I'm blogging out the call to those on ConnorWatch, and it is like typing in molasses. I feel active opposition to each of these keystrokes and my hands are cramping after this short post. Which means the attack is more widespread than I thought.

Lift us up in prayer, each of us that are at risk tonight. Thank you on behalf of my son and family. I'll let you know how it goes in the morning.

Brad,

Praying God's mighty protection, peace and comfort over Beck and Kieth tonight as I fall off to sleep here in California. May God touch Kieth through this experience in an awesome way.

Also praying for you here in California this night -- even right now -- that God will give each of you peaceful sleep and strength to stand against the forces of evil. May Keith learn of the mighty power of God through this experience and I pray God's blessing on Beck for being faithful to Him. Hold fast and stand firm! He is our refuge and strength.

I was reading in my 100 Most Important Verses in the Bible book tonight shortly after I read this blog post. The verse I read was Romans 8:28 "We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."

The description that followed stated something that I really thought was amazing and quite a different perspective on Connor's situation as well as Beck's recent battle. It goes as follows:

"The good that God worked in Paul's life, and that He vows to work in yours, is not a promise of perfect happiness. It is a promise of eternal purpose. God's plan for you to know Him and to spend eternity with Him is steadfast. In addition, God will use the pain and dissapointment in your life. He will use them to do something beautiful, to turn heartache into strength and sorrow into joy.

When you are facing difficult circumstances, remember that God is at work transforming everything that happens, both good and bad, into something beneficial for you."

Hope that this will bring some comfort. As always my prayers are with Connor and the family.
Love always, Cera

I believe God has put your son their for Kieth. May Kieth take Beck's wisdom and faith and learn from it. I pray tonight that everyone gets a good night of rest and that all things are better in the morning.

What a blessing that Beck AND Keith turned immediately to God and prayer! What amazing young men to turn to you, Beck's earthly father, as well as their heavenly father! They are safe! Safe in the Father's arms, safe in your heart, safe in our prayers being sent out tonight for them.

1 Peter 5:7-9a "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith..."

1 John 4:4 "You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world."

Eph. 6:10-18 "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints."

Brad, thank you for sharing this with us. The enemy will try anything to divert attention from the work that God does. He seeks to destroy and demoralize. I'm heartened by Beck's first instinct to run to God! And I hope and pray that his witness in the face of a scary situation will have a profound spiritual effect on Keith.

Adding you all to my prayer list...

Your sister in Christ,

Jenann

My son and I just prayed for Beck and Keith. We will continue to pray for spiritual protection for Beck and that Keith will claim Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior!
