Day 25 - July 10 - We are not Alone
"We are not alone..." Sounds a bit like a creepy intro to some ET/Roswell/Area 51 B Movie, but I'm talking about traveling on this journey with Connor. I know I can get that 'alone' feeling, sitting in my darkened office at 1 a.m. working on the website, or blogging, or praying. I can only imagine Eric or Cherié walking an empty hospital hallway, or sharing a corner with an artificial hospital plant, or sitting in the cafeteria with the 'thousand yard' stare. This is no doubt a journey...one that we travel together, but somehow we can still feel alone.
God reminds us that we are not alone...
"... for He has said, I will never leave you or forsake you...that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me." Hebrews 13:5,6
I'm not a big one for numbers, but I'm easily entertained, and this morning when I looked at the web traffic to ConnorWatch, I thought it would be encouraging if I shared what I saw. These are the numbers of page views at ConnorWatch - not the number of visitors, but the number of times pages were requested from the server. You'll note, if you click on the image and look at the larger version, that yesterday traffic exceeded 30,000 page views. You do not travel alone. He walks beside us on this journey, and I am reminded to encourage each of you that we travel together, as a body of believers, of various persuasions, that together seek to love the Lord God with all our hearts, souls, minds and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We, you, me, all of us, connected through ConnorWatch, are a community that have committed to lifting Connor and the Williamsons before God in prayer, and hold them fast in our thoughts throughout the day. Be reminded, each of you reading this, even you, Eric, Cherié, Joélle, and Connor, that you do not travel alone.

I agree with Brad. This may be one of the "Sidearms" Connor is referencing. God spoke to him, so we know God is with him, protecting him from evil. Praying continually,

You definitely are not alone.
Here are lyrics from a song I have been meaning to share with you. It's "More Faithful" by Skillet. This song has ministered to me many, many times. I pray it does you, too.
"More Faithful"
All the things my feet thought to be firm
Are falling with urgency
Tearing back my false sense of security
Some say things change, nothing stays the same
But the sweetness in my ears
Safe in your arms speak the words I love to hear
You have been more faithful than the morning sun
You have been more faithful than knowing the night will come
You have been more faithful than the changing of seasons
All things I thought that I used to know
Are falling down again
Our disillusionment is how we grow
Some say things change, nothing stays the same
In a world of inconsistency
When everything's a lie,
What can cause my heart to believe
You have been more faithful than the morning sun
You have been more faithful than knowing the night will come
You have been more faithful than the changing of seasons
You have been more faithful than the morning sun
You have been more faithful than knowing the night will come
You have been more faithful than the morning sun
You have been more faithful than knowing the night will come
You have been more faithful than the changing of seasons
Cherie
As I was praying for you this morning the Lord reminded me that love hopes all things. I have been praying for you in a special way since this began, from one mother's heart to another, and I have been blessed by your sweet spirit, as shown in your husband's words on the blog. God has given you a cheerful and hopeful heart-you can see good where there is darkness. I pray that God will continue to lift your head and remind you continually that love hopes ALL things.
love

From His Perspective
"But Jesus looked at them and said to them, 'With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.' "
— Matthew 19:26
I heard the story of an elderly minister who liked to visit people in hospitals. He often would take along a little, embroidered bookmark that he carried in his Bible. On the back of the bookmark were a group of tangled threads with no apparent pattern. He would hand this bookmark, with the back facing up, to those who were hurting or upset and say, "Look at that and tell me what it says."
As they looked at all the tangled threads, they would say, "I have no idea what it says. It doesn't seem to say anything."
Then he said, "Now, turn it over." As they would flip that bookmark over, they saw the words, "God is love." The minister would say, "Many times as we look at what God is doing, we just see tangled threads with no rhyme or reason. But from God's perspective, He is dealing with us in love, and He knows what He is doing."
The next time you think it is all over for you, just remember how things turned out for Joseph. Just remember how things turned out for Daniel. No doubt things looked pretty dim when he was in the den of lions. It looked hopeless as well for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego when they were thrown into the fiery furnace. Things looked pretty grim for Peter when he was in prison. And things looked bleak for Martha and Mary when their brother died.
You see, things can look bad at one moment, but then God will step in and turn events around. Then suddenly you'll look back and say, "Now I understand what God was doing."
Amen to that!

Brad et al,
Re: the uptick in traffic - your story has found its way to Tim Challies blog (challies.com). He's one of the best known and well-respected Christian bloggers around and his site gets thousands of visitors a day. Your army of prayer warriors is gonna get a whole lot bigger.... :)
Dear family,
I am a Challies reader and have been so moved at your son Connor's story (I have read through every post.) You are all in my prayers today and from now on as you walk through this journey. Words from Keith and Kristen Getty:
Jesus draw me ever nearer
As I labour through the storm.
You have called me to this passage,
and I'll follow, though I'm worn.
May this journey bring a blessing,
May I rise on wings of faith;
And at the end of my heart's testing,
With Your likeness let me wake.
Jesus guide me through the tempest;
Keep my spirit staid and sure.
When the midnight meets the morning,
Let me love You even more.
Let the treasures of the trial
Form within me as I go -
And at the end of this long passage,
Let me leave them at Your throne.
Praying for you all!

Dear Family,
No, you are not alone. I love you all and pray daily for each one of you. I rejoice when Connor shrugs his shoulders or is moved out of the upside-down bed and cry when he struggles to breath or his heart does not beat properly. I ask God, "Why?" and, "When?" I wish I had some magic words that would give you hope and peace, but God's words are much better than mine.
Psalm 27:14- Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.
Romans 12:12- Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
James 4:10,11- Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
