Day 23 - July 8 - Shrugs

About 30 seconds after I posted the last update, Cherié and Joélle came running out of the Trauma Center, excited that he is getting moved out of the upside-down bed. They are in the process of moving him back into the rocker bed right now, so that's good news. But the best part is that while the girls were talking to the boy, he shrugged his shoulders! They asked "Did you just shrug your shoulders?", and Connor smiled and shrugged his shoulders a few more times!

That's an encouraging sign! Funny, we were asking for encouraging signs this morning - strange how that works, isn't it? 8-)

I can just picture the smile on connor's face as he shrugs his shoulders and they look at him in amazement. I am very happy to hear of the current progress, as i'm sure everybody else is too! I pray that this small level of movement will just mean that there is fully restored use of his body in the near future. Way to go God, you show them what else YOU can do!

PTL! First the complaints about his back, and now the shrugging of his shoulders! How encouraging! Will continue to pray more fervently for LIFE to reenter his entire nervous system, muscles, bones, connective tissues, etc.......all the way to his fingers and toes. What a mighty, loving Father we have!

Thank you for your frequent updates! I love watching God at work, putting all the pieces of the puzzle together one at a time, sometimes, agonizingly slow, but always moving forward!! Keep on keeping on!! Aya, Northfield, MN

That is really exciting! I love how he smiled and shrugged his shoulders a few more times to confirm it! We will continue to pray expectantly for great things. We were so excited to hear that he was feeling "pain" in his back...odd thing to be excited about...but I'm sure you understand. We are giddy with excitement over the shrugs. I feel an awesome testimony coming on and love seeing how God is working here.

Mark 11:22
"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours....".

is God totally groovy or what ???!!!!

I am so happy for Connor and the progress he is making. I will continue to pray for all of you.

I was just thinking...You know when your foot goes to sleep so bad that you can't feel it anymore? But you are still able to walk, you might not be able to run, but you can take babysteps.

Just because Connor doesn't feel it doesn't mean he can't move it.

Connor--keep taking those babysteps!!! God willing, you will soon be running.

Love to you,
Ledonna

> Subject: USANA...Update on Brett McNamara
>
>
> Most of you know that Dr. McNamara's brother, Brett, was in a very very serious boating accident recently and this is the update you have all been waiting for.
>
>
>
> Patti, and all who have added their thoughts and prayers,
>
> Today was the first day that Brett talked on the phone. I was able to hear my brother's voice. Though he still has a trach tube and a neck brace around his neck, today was the first day he was able to swallow his first food and do any sustained talking. I was in tears as I was on the phone with him, knowing that 4 weeks ago today his wife was being brought back to say a final "good-bye" to him since he was dying.
>
> Brett has been told about the thousands of prayers from the USANA family and beyond, and he was overcome with gratitude. He said, "there is no way that there could not be a miracle happen with that many prayers from so many people. Tell everyone "thank you," and that "I love them all."
>
> Brett is left with some paralysis in his right arm (he can't lift it yet), but he was able to stand for a few minutes before being moved to a chair. He is still in the ICU, but transfers to the rehab (physical rehab) next week.
>
> His cognition and IQ seem to be intact. My Dad gave him a difficult math problem to do in his head, and Brett did it within a minute. Brett seems to be himself, and is determined to expedite his recovery. His attitude is great ...as it always has been. He has never been anything but positive all his life. He is a man of great faith in the Lord.
>
> He has no memory of the accident, ...just that he was at the lake. He doesn't remember much of his first few weeks in the hospital (the face of a visitor here and there after he awoke out of his coma). Most of his memories, he says, are of "another world." He has vivid memories of "re-living" significant moments in his life, namely, the birth of his children, his marriage, and meaningful moments in life. He says he can't quite piece together all that happened to him, and all these things he saw and remembers don't make a lot of sense to him yet ...again, the only way he can explain it is that he spent some time "in another world, ...the spirit world?"
>
> Again, thank you USANA family, and all those who have petitioned the Lord on his behalf. My whole family is grateful to you all, to the doctors, nurses, health care workers, and mostly to the Lord.
>
> Thanks.

WOW, I have been obsessing over Connor and the family ever sense we were given the news by Grandpa DJ I've been glued to this PC, today I felt the Lord telling me to get about my business that I could pray while working. All day long the Lord put it on my heart to pray for unity, peace and Jesus love among family members so that's what I did ??? when I finally got home and was able to check the BLOG just going through the first part about the new system then went down and saw that Connor was getting out of the bed and then even farther and I screamed the biggest joyful noise!!! to the Lord, Yes, Go God!
We do have such an awesome God I just can't wipe this smile off my face I guess our persistence is working out, How could we ever doubt God's Word, Amen! Not that we did!
Love You Connor and Family.

2 Thes. 3:16
May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way.
Big Hugs to Sherri and Denni
