Day 9 - June 24 - He's awake!

He's awake! When we went into the room, we very quietly whispered to the nurse - "Is he awake?". She looked at us, smiled and said "oh, yes, he wanted to watch baseball, so he's watching TV". Sure enough, the game was on, the sound was playing next to his ear, and when I walked between him and the TV his eyes followed me! Praise the Lord!

We only allowed a couple of folks in tonight to see him - myself and Cherié, Joélle, and his closer-than-a-brother, Josh, who arrived today to see him for the first time (he was out of state and couldn't get back until now).  When Josh and Joélle walked in, Connor's eyes opened wide, his brow raised, and he grinned a HUGE grin around his breathing tube.

There's nothing else I can say - thank you, Lord.  Thank you.

Praise the Lord! Words cannot express our gratefulness and relief. Thank you Lord Jesus for bringing Connor through the surgery. I am anxiously awaiting the day I can stand on a step stool (cause that's what it takes to reach when he's standing) and hug my nephew!

This is from Connor's grandpa's cousin -

Thank you for giving me the web and blog on Connor. I read it every evening. I would love to make a comment but it is too difficult for me. They must be computer wizards. I do well until there are blocks to check then I get lost. Kaye Von and her boys can't do it either. When you talk to Eric please tell him that Connor is on our church prayer list, my sunday school dept. and the ladies bible class that I teach. Connor has cousins he has never met and we are praying hard for his full recovery. May our Lord give Connor and all of his family and friends the peace and comfort they need at this time and forever.

Love Forever................Ruth

"Hello Connor - My name is Emily. I go to your church and my Mom told me about you. We have been praying for you at all our meals. I am praying that your neck will feel better and that you can play the drums again in church soon. I will tell you a verse we learned yesterday in VBS - "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1"

Love, Emily Starke p.s. I am 7.

God has been so gracious and merciful to us in bringing Connor through these difficult trials. He is sovereign. It could have gone either way, but I had a hunch our Father wouldn't say "no" to all of us bombarding the gates of heaven to spare Connor and to bring his waiting family through. Eric, you are a gifted writer. Thank you for your transparency. This website has quickened my faith and heart. I have prayed day and night for you all. Our family moved from Prunedale in October of 2006 and we now live in the Nashville area of Tennessee. You can add Tennessee to the believers who are praying for you, as I have shared your needs with my friends here. I have cried with you, smiled with you and now join Connor with his "HUGE grin". Thank you, Lord. Let all honor and glory be Yours.

My wife Linda and I are good friends of the Harvey family. Our own personal challenge is quite similar to your situation here in regards to my wife's spinal cord infection that struck her suddenly on October 3, 2007. Like you, we have a strong faith and trust in our Loving God to perform a miracle of a Full Recovery for her. Jesus is our true Healer.

Please enjoy this prayer poem.

AN ATTITUDE OF LOVE

Life presents us with challenges that we must overcome, and sometimes all the detours can leave the senses numb. Life is filled with stumbling blocks we pass along the way, but it can become a stepping stone when love comes into play. Wherever there's an obstacle that we must rise above, it helps to overcome it with an attitude of love.
For anger never solves a thing and stress will bring us down, but love unlocks the doorway where hopes and faith are found. So many things divide us throughout the human race, but love's the great uniter, the smile on mankind's face! Life presents us with challenges that we must rise above, and blessed is he who can maintain an attitude of love.

Clay Harrison.

God bless thee,

Robert & Linda Garbisch

Thank you, Jesus. THANK YOU!

It's so great to see Connor awake, aware and smiling!! Joelle, your smile says it all. I can see how happy you are that your brother has come through the surgery, and the joy you're experiencing knowing that God is working a miracle in his life. What a blessing it is to have such a relationship with a sibling.

My heart is rejoicing with you all. May God be praised for his faithfulness and lovingkindness.

O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy hands have made.
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power through-out the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

Love you all,

Jenann
