Day 8 - June 23 - The First Hurdle Has Been Cleared!

Eric just called and asked me to post the news...

Connor's first hurdle has been cleared! This is a direct answer to the prayers you all have been lifting up.

Here's what happened... This morning Joélle went into visit with Connor and saw that he no longer had the halo on his head. She said the neurosurgeon was in the room and he told her that they had taken him out of traction in order to prepare for the surgery tomorrow. He also told her that the traction had not worked properly and that they would need to manually attempt to reposition the vertebrae.

Joélle quickly went to find Eric & Cherié so they could speak with the neurosurgeon directly, but even though they raced back into Connor's room, the doctor was nowhere to be found.

So they began talking to Connor, singing, praying, etc. and after 15 minutes or so, the doctor came back into the room. Apparently he had seen the latest X-ray, because he said something like, "sometime in the last couple of hours his neck has moved back into place." From the time they had taken his halo off, the bones had adjusted back where they need to be!

This is an amazing answer to prayer!

They are still planning on surgery for sometime on Tuesday to stabilize his neck (both front and back), but the fact that the bones are back where they need to be is a huge hurdle that Connor has cleared. We know there are many more hurdles coming, but please offer your prayers of thanksgiving and then pray for the upcoming surgery, etc.

Thanks,

Kent

Praise God!!!!! We are so thankful for the updates. I am in awe of what a wonderful God we have. Thank you for sharing your story about yesterday and this one about the bones being aligned. It brought many tears to both Randy and my eyes. We love you all and will continually keep all in our prayers.

Psalm 150:1 Praise the LORD!

Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!

2 Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!

3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!

6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

Praise the LORD!

My roommate's grandmother broke her neck when she was 16 years old, (it was while out swimming which is why I bring this up, he heard me talking about this and found it interesting). The doctors gave her two weeks to live.

She lived to her nineties.

The doctors said she'd be paralyzed, she was still walking around up to a few weeks before she died of old age.

I keep hoping and praying that when he's 90, Conner will be able to tell this story to his grandchildren too.

Praise to Our God and King.
He is just and His promises endure forever.

Satan flee from this young man. You have NO POWER over our Lord Jesus Christ who rose from the dead and will raise Connor from this temporary tomb.

We sing praises today and every day to our Lord Jesus Christ...NOT TO YOU SATAN. Be gone from our child Connor and his family...run from the power of Jesus that is protecting them.

We praise you Jesus on this day and every day and pray for you to send your Holy Spirit and blessings upon us all.

Amen.
