Day 7 - June 22 - Ready, OK!

I had a pretty good visual image this morning that fits into what I want to say, so here goes...

Have you ever seen one of those cheerleading competitions? One where these teams of perky people stack themselves up to the sky into all sorts of formations? I'm pretty convinced that if I tried this with my friends and family, we'd pull a big "humpty-dumpty" and all come tumbling down. It takes these folks a lot of work, skill and a good coach to put together these things so that they work right.

Now here's the image - there's this big pyramid of people. At the bottom is this great big layer of strong, sturdy folks, interlacing their arms so they can stand the strain of all that's placed upon their shoulders. Standing on their shoulders is a smaller group of folks, again bracing against each other to spread the load downward in an even and balanced way. On those folks' shoulders, there are two or three people - once again leaning into each other in order to support the weight that the coach has decided will be carried by them. Finally, at the pinnacle of the pyramid, there's one tiny soul, perched dangerously high above the ground. As long as every member of the squad does exactly what the coach has dictated as their role, the person at the top is secure, and the crowd roars, the judges smile, and the trophies are handed out.

What I'm trying to say is that Connor is the tiny, pig-tailed cheerleader at the top. He is being directly supported by his family, Cherié, Joélle and I. We, in turn, are depending on both each other and our next layer of support, our family and friends - Brad and Kent with the blog; the friends who flock to our side to feed us, clothe us, and house us; and all our friends and family who are praying unceasingly for Connor and for us. Finally, this group is completely being held up and supported by the steady, faithful, unceasing prayer being offered up on our behalf by a very, very large group of individuals; most of whom do not know us, have not met us, and only help because of one thing - the direction of our Coach, the One who designed this pyramid, who brought the participants together, who developed the skills in each of us to fulfill our role, and who orchestrates the whole, seemingly precarious balance.

I cannot do justice to the list of people I owe for their great, great service to me and mine. I am astonished at how God has brought people together from every part of the world, from every walk of life, from both well-known and unknown walks, to gather together in prayer for my son and for what God is doing through his ordeal. I could never begin to thank you for what you are doing for us, so I must be satisfied that one day in eternity, I'll shake your individual hands and give you a big hug in gratitude for your service to God, and through Him, to my boy, my family, and to me.

Thank you, friends. Thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for your selflessness. Thank you for your endurance, your perseverance, and your obedience. Thank you for your gifts, your thoughts, your comfort, and most importantly, your prayers. We continue to covet them, and we thank and praise the Lord for His provision through your hearts and hands.

What an image, I am so blessed with your sight. This is an image that is and will be very valuable in the now and the future.
God's provisions are unstoppable.
I will look forward to that hug one day in eternity.
Until then, Let's press on.

That was a great image. Thank you.

I know it's a bit unorthodox at this point, for one of us, at the bottom, to make a request of you there - at the top. But I'm going to do it anyhow....Eric - could you please make sure someone is videoing Connor the day he finally reads for himself that his father published on the web:>>Connor is the tiny, pig-tailed cheerleader at the top. >> That, my friend, will be worth the price of admission. :)

Thanks for making us smile while you continue to paint the very real image of God working through and in you.

Still heavy in prayer for you all

Your words of faithfulness, encouragement, love and trust in our Heavenly Father makes my faith that much stronger. I check this blog every morning, lunch break, and evening to see how Connor is doing. Thank you for your updates, insights, and prayer requests. I am praying for you and all that this touches.

What is awesome to me, is that as a "stranger" (I've met Connor and am friends with Cody and family) I KNOW, that you would do the same for me! That is what is so awesome about our Lord, we gain millions of brothers and sisters, with the acceptance of His gift! What a mighty thing to know!

Dear Eric, Cherie' and Joelle,
We are standing with you... You are constantly on our hearts and in our prayers... Our church family is lifting you up in prayer and believing God for Connor.. This is a huge and difficult battle. It reminds me of David facing Goliath..The huge bully who tormented David and his God.. But David just had little "rocks" to fight this giant.. He also ran to the battle.. We see you all running to this battle with the faith like "david".. God has such amazing power and I know that his word says..Without faith it is impossible to please God and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Heb. ll.. You are standing and holding on to God and He is so pleased with you..
We love you and please know that Lexi is wishing she is still with you..She is constantly praying for you and calling all her friends to pray..
Love,
The MacPhail Family

I am honored to be on the absolute very bottom of this pyramid and to shoulder the weight and pray for Connor and his family. I also have an 18 year old boy who I'm sure dove into that same lake in the past, and I am praying hard.....and feeling blessed...it's incredible how God has spread this ministry of Connor throughout so many communities...I found out about it through an email at Valley Christian High School where I work. It also came through my church prayer email chain, Central Christian in San Jose. Connor is bringing us all closer to Him.
What a testimony! I look forward to more updates to guide my prayers.
Your sister in Christ,
Vicki Wagner

Your write ups and imagery are very thought provoking, Eric. (Pig-tailed Connor, ha ha, he's gonna recover fully just to get back at you for that one!)Keep up the good works. We have been constantly checking in on the blog and hope Chuck & Stewart were able to lift you up from all of us on the site. Oh and unlike the cheerleading competition, we on the bottom aren't keeping score ;-)

Eric,

We constantly think about Conner and you and your family. We are praying for you. And from one dad to another, trust me, we all feel your heart in this.

There was a particularly moving song today at church called God Moves. The chorus of the song went like this "So God, we trust in You. O God, we trust in you. When tears are great and comforts few, we hope in mercies ever new. We trust in you."

To the Williamson family, God bless you. We love you.

Dear Eric, Cherie, Joelle and Connor,
When we moved to Michigan, we thought we would not be able to find a church like WHCC, but God is so good that he led us to a wonderful church in a tiny town in Northern Michigan called Joy Community Church. We want you to know that the entire church is and has been praying for your family. Your writing and insights have been a source of encouragement to us and we thank you for them. We continue to pray for you hourly. We praise God for you and all those who are thinking about you across the country.

"but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Dear Eric, Cherie, Joelle, and Connor,
We have been praying for all of you ever since we heard from Kent last week. We will continue. God had this verse for me as I prayed for you this morning, "Watch this: God's eye is on those who respect Him, the ones who are looking for His love. He's ready to come to thier rescue in bad times; in lean times He keeps body and soul together." We will pray for God to continue to do this for you and we will pray for Connor's healing.

Eric, Cherie', Joelle and Connor,

As Mark so aptly put it a little lower in this thread, you are all on belay-big time!

I must head back to the mountains to guide for a little bit. Please know there are many more in Colorado praying for you!!

Also, more climbing guides in Canada, Alaska, Chile and Peru have joined in...Praise Our Lord who is always faithful!

Love,

Robert
p.s. Hope you got my letter via the form on Connor's web site from Sat.

internet at home is down, so I've been chewing my nails all weekend til I could get back to work and check in. I see God still working, and setting the stage for His glory to be fully realized, not only by those of us who already know Him, but for those don't. That was an awesome comparison to the Baal prophets and to be able to see that from the midst of your storm is testimony once again of your strength (no matter what you say otherwise).
Someone mentioned 'Peace, Be still' elsewhere, and this kept going through my mind this weekend as well - both to me as I was anxious to hear/read news and also for you...and of course, ultimately, for the time Jesus speaks to this storm - "PEACE, Be still!!"...
Still praying...anxious to see Connor's healing, but not doubting it...
