Day 4 - June 19 - Breathe and Sleep
I just got off the phone with Eric. They arrived at the hospital only a couple of minutes before my call, so he hadn't received the full update yet, but here is what he passed on to me...
• Connor slept through the night. Please pray that he'll continue to be able to do this.
• Connor is breathing approximately 30 times a minute. This is good. The alarm (which has gone off several times over the last few days) is set to call for help if the respiration rate is less than 8 per minute. Eric said he has seen it as low as 4 when Connor has struggled with despair. Please pray that this rate will remain at a level needed to sustain him without overexerting him.
• The traction folks and the neurosurgeon were just in the room with Connor. We should have an update on that later today.
I'll close with a verse that my cousin Belinda Williamson Cole left on her recent comment to the post Do you remember?...
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Phil 4:13
These are words for all of us to live by.

I read the updates last night before going to sleep. As I was lying in bed, I prayed for Connor. Among many other things, I prayed that he would get good rest and sleep through the night.
Thank you, Lord, for this answer to prayer!

Thank you for keeping this up to date. I was able to hear of Connor and his friends' love for him and his love for the Lord Monday night on the 4th floor of the Wyndham Hotel at Resolved.
Please know that many brothers and sisters in Christ are appealing to God for Conner's return to health (if that is what will most glorify God) and that peace and trust for his family.
Praise God that connor is still breathing and well. i just got on and started reading the updates today, my mom gave me the address this morning. from how it sounds connor is taking it very well. i would like to come down and visit connor. but i dont know i have the time and money to do so, (my finals are coming up). Me and Becca have been praying for both connor and eric and cherie. for God to give them strength through this bad time.

Hey, Wmson gang ... there hasn't been a day go by that you all haven't been in our prayers, and now more than ever. Connor, know that includes you, from BEFORE the day you were born.
Living in hospitals for weeks with Nikki Jo and in the months of home care that followed, we learned many things. First, sleep when you can, eat when you're hungry and laugh when it doesn't make any sense. Humble yourselves. Expect faith to be tested at all levels - faith in God, faith in doctors and medical science, even faith in each other. Eric, we found ourselves repeatedly asking the same "WHY?" question that you struggle with.
One of Lola's favorite sayings is simply, "PUSH" - Pray Until Something Happens. I kinda like one of Morgan Freeman's lines in Evan Almighty ... I'm paraphrasing, but it's something like, "When we pray for courage, God doesn't necessarily make us brave - he presents us with the opportunity to be courageous." I remember taking particular strength from Nikki's heroic outlook - laying effectively paralyzed in her own hospital bed, yet calling out encouragement to other children in pain.
It's too easy to say, "Be strong for each other" and "Be strong for Connor," yet that's what he needs most. We'll continue to pray for strength, faith and healing.

Dear Texx and Cherie,
It has been a long time since I've prayed, but I was moved to prey for Conner this morning. I will continue to prey for his recovery.
