Day 3 - June 18 - Update & Prayer List

I just had a great conversation with Eric... tears, laughter, anger, etc. Pray for strength for him, Cherié and Joelle as they continue this exhausting struggle.

Here's the latest...

• Connor is still breathing on his own! Continue to pray that this is possible and that the respirator won't be needed.

• Connor has begun wrestling with depression. I believe this is a natural part of his journey, but pray that his faith will carry him.

• Yesterday he had feeling from his upper chest up, but then he began losing that feeling which crept all the way up to his cheeks. He lost all feeling in his mouth and bit his own tongue as a result. Eric said this is very scary for Connor. BUT... this morning he has regained feeling down to his lower chest. Please pray that he will keep as much feeling as possible.

• He has been able to move his shoulders, but yesterday a couple of times he was able to move his forearm (bend at the elbow). The nurses said that with this type of injury he should not be able to do this. As of this morning he has not been able to repeat this motion. Pray that Connor gains the use of his arms.

• Connor is in a lot of pain. They have reduced the medication to help test the sensitivity of his body, to see where he can feel. But this has left him in more pain. Pray for comfort.

• I learned from Eric that it will take 10-14 days for the blood thinners to work on that clot. This is very discouraging as that means up to two weeks before they can begin to treat the other issues. Please pray that this may happen sooner.

Lastly I want to share with you a story that Eric told me. His friends forced he and Cherié to leave the hospital last night and go to the hotel to get some sleep. They did and when Eric awoke this morning he grabbed a Bible and just flipped it open. It landed on Psalm 20, so he read it. I encourage you to read it... it provided great encouragement for Eric and probably will for you too.

Praise God -- pain = feeling! Our family has been praying for Connor ever since we heard. We are praying for the swelling to continue to decrease (and feeling to increase) and for the clot to disappear. We are also praying for wisdom and healing hands for the doctors and for peace, patience, and perseverence for Connor and for you, his family.

James 1:2-4 says, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Verse 12 says, "Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. "

With much love and prayers,

Julie for the Hoefling family

Trust that God would not bring you something like this unless HE was planing to carry you through it. Let you weakness be made strong in Jesus.

We are thinking about Connor and the family constantly, and as a result, praying constantly. Thank you for these updates, because we are eager to learn what next to pray for, and what our Lord to His glory will accomplish next with Connor, his injury, his family, and we his friends. Let's keep praying fervently for our dear brother in the Lord during this trying and fearful time.

Connor, Eric, Cherié and Joelle,

My family and our church family are holding you up in prayer. Your opening to Psalm 20 is just like our LORD, the God of all comfort and Father of mercies. We pray that He will sustain you, heal you, and do His redeeming work through this. Psalm 94:19 "When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul." May you experience His grace, presence and consolation!

Our family is praying for you daily - even our 2 y.o. Kate yesterday when it was her turn said "God-Connor-body" :) We know that God wants to teach all our kids that He hears them when they pray and are thankful for this early opportunity. We know He will answer!

Also, is anyone in need of a home to stay in, rather than a hotel? We have dear Christian friends in Fresno who have been closely linked to Hume Lake for years -they and many of their friends are willing and ready to offer hospitality the minute it's needed. Will you look us up in the WHCC directory or check with Mike B. for our contact info?

Blessings,

London and Megan Osborne are in constant prayer for Conner and his family. It has been a while since we have seen them and we were in shock to hear the news. We know, from our experience with London's head injury that God is able to do so much more than what seems possible to us. We are excited to see the news that there is progress with movement, feeling, and yes...even pain. We pray for healing, that God uphold the family in this difficult and stressful time and that the depression is wiped away. Praise God for Conner's testimony in a time of trial.

Isaiah 41:10 Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Williamson family, Be encouraged that so many are praying for you - for the Lord promises that you will never be alone as stated in Isaiah. Don and I continue to pray for Connor's healing and for peace that surpasses all understanding for all of you.

We love you guys!!

Williamson family ~ my heart is heavy with concern for you all right now. Many who know Connor are also heavy with another dear brother and family (Jay Rickel) who are experiencing such difficult times. The Lord is bringing both families to our hearts endlessly throughout each & every day - know we stop and beg God for mercy and comfort for you each time.

Heavenly Father - we ask for miracles unknown to the natural man - that You be glorified thoroughout the entire situation, may we love and serve You and be able to plead for our hearts desire, while supernaturally also bowing the knee, saying 'Thy will be done'. Teach us your ways, Lord. Please give the family comfort and strength through Your body that is acting in the exact way You designed Your body on earth to function. Thank You Lord for your provision...

Amen.

Connor and his family have been in our thoughts and prayers consistently these last three days. As I was praying for Connor this afternoon the Lord reminded me of Isaiah 26:3-4: You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever for the Lord God is an everlasting rock. We are grateful for this blog and to know how to pray. The Lord hears the many voices echoing the same great concern and care we all have for Connor. We trust Him for His answer and healing.

Blessings,

The Marshall family want you to know that we are praying constantly for Connor and the rest of you in this "time that tries men's souls". James told us to "count it all joy". We know this joy can come only as He assures us of His love and caring for us. Our trust and the working of His will give us comfort and peace.

May the Father be especially close and real to each of you (I must mention my dear friends Ed and Ardath) in this severe trial.

I love you. Evelyn

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of this very difficult time in your lives. We are continually impressed with the strong bond you all have with one another- and now more than ever. Please know that we will never stop praying for you all... Connor's complete recovery, as well as strength, hope and endurance for Cherie', Eric and Jo'elle. We know that anyone that knows Connor, loves Connor, and that love was displayed today at the hospital with all the friends that came for support. We love you all so very much. We are here for you- just call and ask and it will be done.
