Day 13 - June 28 - Wavering

OK, I don't know where to start.

Maybe at the beginning. Connor has been wrestling with despair today - like father, like son, I guess. I spoke at length with him about hope and faith - I told him of the words of hope we've received this past couple of weeks; I told him the things that many of you have said. I encouraged him with words of scripture, and with song, and we prayed together for strength in the face of this trial. I promised him that he and I would walk through this together, and you could see him set his face to the challenge again. It was both heartening and heart-rending at the same time.

I came out to the waiting room while some of Connor's friends visited with him (I think they were watching "Men in Black"). I fought against the welling loss of hope as the lie spread in my mind - "The website is over. All these people will have lost interest and left by this time next week. You'll be all alone before too long". Yes, I know it's a lie from the pit. Yes, I have to struggle to defeat it.

I go back in to see the boy. I tell him how much he encourages me and helps me in this time, too. His eyebrows raise - this is something he hasn't thought about, even though I'm telling him how much his story is moving people.

He hams for the camera a bit, spirits lifted again.

I come back to the waiting room to give CheriƩ some time with the boy. I doze off for a bit, and awake in a black and foul mood. I decide I'd better post this post, and as I type the word "Wavering" in the title, a pastor walks up and begins to talk to me. He's going on about how he's helped lots of people through the years in these kinds of situations, and I'm thinking "Yeah, right - ever have one of your own children paralyzed from the neck down?" I wring my hands together, wishing he'd go away and let me type. He keeps talking. I'm on the verge of asking him to leave me alone when I hear what he's saying - talking about how God tells us to cling to His promises; to believe that what we ask of Him is going to happen; how faith is an act of perceiving as reality that which hasn't been revealed to the senses. I got to thinking about how close to the edge I was - how close to giving up I was - how much I wanted to just let go. And I got to thinking (again) about a daily ration of manna, even from an unexpected source.

To paraphrase the Apostle Paul, O wretched man that I am! Who will save me from this perpetual torment?

Psalm 121 - A song of ascents.

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip - he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD watches over you - the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Eric -

Thanks for posting the new photos of Connor. It's great to see his smile and we'll continue to pray for him and the roller coaster ride the whole family is on.

Any update on Tod?

Hug the girls for us and give the boy our regards. Tell him that Chase and all the kids have been praying for him.

Question... can you post to the blog from your iPhone?

Love to all,

Continuing to pray in Atlanta....Now that we got the 'net back on at home, I was able to let my wife read what's been posted. She was reminded that God says when His people who are called by His Name will humble themselves and pray, He will hear from the heavens and will heal. She also remembered James 5:14-15.
"Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the Church to pray over him and annoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up."

He still has his sweet smile, even through all that he is going through lately.

What an encouragement to me!

We won't forget and we'll keep on praying.

We will not forget, Makenzie and I check the site at least 3 times a day, if not more! We love the newest pictures and have the one of Connor and sis as our background on the computer!

I continue to pray and can't wait to finally meet him (I did briefly at Cody's party) and make some yummies for him, Cody and whoever else. I am glad he got to visit with friends, Cody was excited about going back down the visit. We'll never give up on you and the family!

As always,

Hey y'all...

(I'm working on my Texas accent.)

One of the things I've prayed for all along (and I'm sure I'm not the only one), is for Connor's brain functions to be protected. From the pictures, I see he's completely aware of where he is, who is with him, Who is with him always, and what's going on. I love the hammy! And I love that God *is* answering the prayers of His people. Thank you, LORD!

Is it possible to take your laptop in to him? Reading some of the blog entries himself and the comments left might go a long way to encouraging him.

Eric, thanks for the update and, once again, your transparency. You are not alone. And we are not going anywhere! :)

Hi Cherie! Hi Joelle! I'm praying for you both, as well.

Love you all...

Jenann

Continuing in prayer-all through the day-when we wake up during the night.

Psalms 121- Shall I look to the mountain gods for help? No! My help is from Jehovah who made the mountains! And the heavens too! He will never let me stumble, slip, or fall. For He is always watching. never sleeping. Jehovah Himself is caring for you! He is your defender. He protects you day and night. He keeps you from all evil, and preserves your life. He keeps His eye upon you as you come and go, and always guards you.

I love how you call him 'the boy'..my husband often refers to our 18 yr old with that same sentiment. I love the goofy look for the camera, as well as the beautiful smile. I will return to this page daily until that day Connor's body is fully restored! Our God IS a God of restoration! The miracles your son has received over these past two weeks..I am on my knees..in absolute awe, of God's amazing love.
FOREVER HE IS FAITHFUL!

You guys are all in our prayers, We are so blessed by all you are going through. God is teaching everyone through you. I know that does'nt seem to mean much as Connor lies there but in the big picture and eternally it means volumes. I cant imagine what your going through but I know that looking at the big picture has carried me through many very stressfull times and continues to do so. Seeing God work in this situation and bring you guys along little by little with all possitives so far has been a blessing and an obvious show of Gods hand and soveriegnty.
Be encouraged my dear brother we have no reason to think that anything but the best is going to happen. God is still as powerfull today even though we dispair.
Please look to Him, love Him praise and thank Him. He's working out whats best for us all and knows us better than we know ourselves. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your lives through this and afterward too.
We love you and will keep on praying for you!

Eric, Cherie, Joelle, and Connor,

Still praying and checking continuously on you. Praying for continued knowledge that God is with you and loves you, and praying for complete and full restoration for Connor. Pray that the lies will not discourage you and that the truth is: thousands are praying on your behalf in the name of Jesus Christ!

"The Lord's compassions fail not. They are new every morning." Lamentations 3:28

Tomorrow will be a new day...I am praying for your rest...mentally and physically and that He will help all of you take things moment by moment, step by step.

Hello to you all. I continue to pray daily for all of you even sometimes during the night when I awake.
It is extremely difficult to watch your son go through such painful times. I to know the pain of a child, who has had something happen to them to cause them to be different from an illness then he was before. My son Randy. Who suffers with Paranoia Schizphrenia and is in a State Mental Hospital.
God has been faithful through it all. It is hard to see His Faithfullness at times, but I always know He keeps His Promises. My favorite verse for my son Randy is, Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
God promises He has a plan He knew this would happen before the begining of time and He is at work in Randy to bring about His purpose and good will to Him. As I know you know this in your situtaion. God promises He has a plan for your son, for Conner's good and God's Glory. At times it is hard to see, but we know God's Promises are true.
I will continue in prayer, you friend, Barb Binette ( Beers)
